Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HUGHFARLEY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
(menne-ROLLER SUPPORT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 252,023,7dated January 10, 1882.
Application led Qetober 24, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGH FARLEY, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in Curtain-Rollers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has reference to curtain-rollers, but more particularly to their supports; and it consists in means which, when the roller is placed between them, retain their position by-frictional contact alone, and without the use of screws or bolts or nails, as heretofore used. i
The object of my invention is to provide suitable means to support the curtain-roller in'position withoutpermanently securingsaid means tothe windowframe, and allow said roller to `be rotated freely to wind up and unroll the curtain.
caps D are placed against the sides G of the window-frame andthe rollerA forced between them, as shown. The friction between the springs and roller is very smallwhen compared with the friction between the springs F and window-frame G. Hence the supportingcaps D retain their position and allow the roller to be easily rotated.
This device may be greatly modified withf outin any way departingfrom myinvention,as I do not limit myself to the device shown.
Having now described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A support for curtain-rollers., in combination with means to create afriction between said support and the window-frame, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The combination ofthe rollerAand pivot- I projections C with pivot-recessed caps D, or their equivalent, and aspring, F, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto rset my hand.
HUGH FARLEY.
