Description

(No Model.)
. STOVE BOARD. No. 251,167. Patented Dec. 20,1881.
A'z-Zwi Jig;
ITEDV STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT Mw'BIDELMAN, OF ADRIAN, MICHIGAN.
STOVE-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,167, dated December 20, 1881.
Application filed mm 17, 1881. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROBERT M. BIDELMAN, of Adrian, in the county of Leuawee and State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in Stove-Boards, of which the following is a specification. 4
The nature ofthis invention relates to new and useful improvements in stove-boards, so constructed as to present between the radiating-surface and the floor upon which it is laid a perfectly fire-proof device; and the invention consists in the improved fire-proof board, as more fully hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which my stove-board is partially shown in section, A represents a metallic sheet covering, which may be plain or ornamented, as desired, be neath which is'secured the layer of asbestus B. This layer of asbestos is secured to the metal sheet A by the underturued edges a of said sheet, which are forced partly into the asbestus, as shown in. the drawing, so as to prevent the asbe \tus from separating from the metal plate.
I do not desire to confine myself to any particular finish of edges, as I solely desire to provide for the purpose a fire-proof device.
I am aware that wooden boards and felt or paper sheets covered with sheet metal in various forms are in use as stove-boards, and I am also aware that it is not new to secure as bestus, &c., between two metal plates, and therefore I do not claim anything with relation to such boards; but
What I do claim as my invention is As an improved article of manufacture, a fire-proof stove-board consisting of a sheet of asbestus, B, and a metal plate, A, said metal plate having its edge turned around and into the asbestus, whereby the latter is secured firmly in place, substantially as specified.
ROBERT M. BIDELMAN.
