The present invention relates to improvements in devices for impregnating water with soap and, more specifically, it relates to anew and im proved sudserby means of which vwater flowing from a faucet can be transformed into suds before it reaches a sink beneath said faucet thus facili tating the washing of dishes and the like.

One object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which can be attached easily to any standard faucet or to any other suitable tubular spout, and which does not require for its attachment nor for its removal the use of any tools nor the application of any considerable amount of skill.

Another object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described Which while it is attached to a faucet can be opened for the purpose of re-fllling it with soap or the like.

Still another object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which is provided with means for guiding the water flowing from the faucet either through the soap contained in the device, so that it will function as a sudser, or through an empty compartment, so that water can be obtained from the device which water is not impregnated with soap.

Yet a further object of the present invention is the provision of a device of the character described which is small in size, light in weight, of a pleasant appearance, easily to operate and to clean, and simple in construction so that it can be manufactured and sold at a very reasonable price. but which is sturdy, durable, and well adapted to withstand the rough usage to which devices of this type are frequently subjected.

With the foregoingr and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim,

it being understood that changes may be made' in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

In the drawing the numeral I denotes an'en'n tire sudser 4constructed in accordance with the 4presen-t invention. ItSJJOpl :part `2 is a. cap of rubber or of any other suitable resilient material having an upright collar portion 3 whose interior is preferably provided with annular ribs t, so that it will grip tightly any tubular member of suitable size inserted therein. The lower portion of the part 2 is provided with internal threads 5 or withl any other lsuitable means for detachably securing thereto a hollow body ii, which preferably is cylindrical as in the instance shown but which may be also of any other suitable shape or design and which consists of plastic material, aluminum, or of any other suitable heat-and-moisture-proof material. An upright wall I divides the interior of the lower portion of the body 6 into two compartments, and is preferably formed as a unit with the body 6. The upper straight edge of the wall 'l i5 formed as a longitudinal concave groove into which fits the lower convex edge of a semi-elliptical plate 8 that is secured to a shaft 9. The latter is extended through the body 6 and is provided at one end with a handle I 0 and at its other end with a nut i l or with any other suitable means for holding it in place.

The lower extremity of the body 6 is open at l2 at one side of the wall 1, while at the other side of the wall l it'is provided with a perforated bottom i3. If soap (not shown) is placed upon the bottom i3 so that the space above the bottom i3 is filled approximately up to the upper edge of the wall 1, and if the plate 8 is in the position shown in Figure 3, the water entering the device through the collar 3 will be guided through said soap, so that suds will emanate from the perforated bottom I3. When the plate 8 is moved about ninety degrees relative to the position shown in Figure 3, the space above the perforated bottom i3 is closed, so that water entering the device from above will leave it through the open section I2 without being impregnated with soap.

The shape and design of the collar 3 allows the entire device to be attache-d to a faucet or the like, simply by pushing the outlet portion of the faucet into the collar 3. l For refilling the device with soap, the body 6 can be detached easily from the cap 2 as previously referred to.

ISince certain changes may be made in the above article and different embodiments of the invention could be made Without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

It is also to be understood that the following claim is intended to cover all of the generic and specic features of the invention herein described, and*Y all statements of the scope of the invention which as a matter of language might be said to fall therebetween.

Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let-v ters Patent is:

A device of the character described comprising an upright tube having an external thread at its upper end portion, a semi-circular grate being secured to the lower end of the tube, an up right Wall extending from the straight edge of said grate into said tube and terminating at a point intermediate the ends of the tube, a semielliptical. plate extending upwardly from thel upper edge oi said upright wall into the tube and having a, lower straight edgey whichv is coeXtensive with and adjacent the upper' edge of said upright wall, aI shaft extending through and se- 4 cured to the lower edge portion of said plate having its end portions rotatably extended through opposite wall portions of said tube, and a handle being secured to one of the ends of said shaft which protrude beyond the outer side of said tube, the latter being adapted for being secured to a resilient faucet engaging member by means of the external threads at the upper portion of the tube.
