Definitions

  • this loose part is movable relatively tothe stock.
  • this loose part may be moved relatively to the said loose stock in such manner that this stock such as the tail-stock is clamped to the bed of the lathe. After loosening this attachment the motion of the stock over the bed yet remains difcult, particularly with heavy head-stocks.
  • the present invention has for its purpose to avoid this difficulty and is characterized in that at least one roller secured in a movable manner to the stock is located between two slide faces in the bed and in one position bears on one of the slide faces so that the loose stock is clamped to the bed, whereas in another position of this roller it engages the other slide face and lifts the loose stock from the bed of the lathe.
  • the construction according to the invention yields the advantage that the said roller serves on the one hand for clamping the loose stock and on the other hand supports the loose stock on the bed of the lathe. By means of this roller the loose stock is allowed to roll over the bed so that it can be easily shifted.
  • the loose stock is preferably equipped with four of such rollers which are provided pairwise on either side of this stock. In this case the loose stock can travel as a whole along the bed.
  • Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of a loose lathe stock member according to my invention taken along the line I-I of Figure 2 looking in the direction indicated by the arrows.
  • Figure 2 is a side View in elevation of the means of Figure l taken along the line 2-2 of Figure l.
  • the reference number Ill designates the bed which is provided on either side with a slot II whose upper and bottom face 23 and 24 respectively are realised to constitute slide faces. Furthermore the bed comprises a flat portion I9 and a V-shaped gutter 2l to which the loose head stock can be clamped. This V- shaped gutter .2
  • Theloose stock member such as a tail-stock member IJ. comprises two ribs I5 and IIiwhich arev located atV some distance from the ⁇ side, wall of the stock; andgintegrally connected tov thesaid side-walls by means of the,A portion Irl-A (see Figure 2).
  • Each ⁇ of. thesev ribs is perforated,v at two points and carries a ⁇ shaft I4.
  • ⁇ 'I-his shaft I4 has an eccentrically located cylindrical end I3 about which a roller I2 of hard steel is freely rotatable. This shaft I4 is rigidly connected to ther lever 22 which is movable in a space between the said ribs and the side wall of the loose stock member.
  • the shafts I4 can be rotated by means of both these levers 22 at the same time by means of the connecting bar 22-A which results in that the eccentric part I3 is moved upward and downward so that the hard steel rollers I2 engage either the bottom slide faces 24 or the upper slide faces 23.
  • the bottom sides IB and 2U respectively of the ribs I5 and I6 are lifted from the bed.
  • the weight of the stock I1 is transmitted solely through the rollers I2 to the bed so that the loose stock can travel over the bed by means of the rollers I2.
  • Stock apparatus for a lathe which comprises a stock member having side-wall portions and perforated rib portions in spaced-apart relation, a bed-like support member having a V- shaped gutter-like slot and square slide slots parallel to each other and to the said wall portions and rib portions, lever members, shaft members attached to said levers at the ends thereof and mounted for rotation in the said perforations and having eccentrically connected end portions, and roller members mounted for rotation on the said eccentric end portions, said rollers bearing on the top and bottom surfaces of the said square slots according to the extent and direction of the actuation of said levers.
  • Stock apparatus for a lathe which comprises a stock member having side-wall portions and perforated rib portions in spaced-apart relation, a bed-like support member having a V- shaped gutter-like slot and square slide slots parallel to each other and to the said wall portions and said rib-portions, lever members, shaft members attached to said levers at the ends thereof and mounted for rotation in the said perthe said stock member and said support member according to the extent and direction of the actuaton of said levers.
  • Stock apparatus for a lathe which comprises a stock member having apertured sidewall portions and perforated rib portions in spaced-apart relation, a bed-like support member having a raised central portion, a V-shaped gutter-like slot and square slide slots formed in the said central portion parallel to each other and to the said Wall portions and said rib portions, lever members, shaft members attached to said levers at the ends thereof and mounted for rotation in the said perforations and having eccentrically connected end portions, and roller members mounted for rotation on the said eccentric end portions, said rollers bearing on the top and bottom surfaces of the said square slots according to the extent and direction of the selective actuation of said levers.
  • Stock apparatus for a lathe which comprises a stock member having side-Wall portions and perforated rib portions in spaced-apart relation, a bed-like support member having a V- shaped gutter-like slot and square slide slots parallel to each other and to the said wall portions and said rib portions, at least four lever members, shaft members attached to said levers at the ends thereof and mounted for rotation in the said perforations and having eccentrically connected end portions, and at least four roller members mounted pairwise one behind the other for rotation on the said eccentric end portions, said rollers bearing on the top and bottom surfaces of the said square slots according to the extent and direction of the actuation of said levers.
