(Cl. 248-2579) This invention relates to a shade and curtain bracket, and it is one object of the invention to provide a bracket so constructed that When a pair of the improved brackets are mounted at opposite sides of a window frame, they may be adjusted and disposed in such spaced relation to each other that rods for holding curtains and draperies may be mounted across the window and also a shadeV roller mounted between the brackets.

Another object of the invention is to provide brackets wherein members for holding the rods and the roller are shiftable along base members to adjusted positions transversely of a window frame and secured in set positions.

Another object of the invention is to provide a bracket formed of sheet metal or other suitable material, the members for engagement by the rods and the roller being so formed that while they may be slid along the base member, they cannot be tilted outwardly and disconnected from the base member by the weight of the rods of the roller.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:

The improved bracket constituting the subject matter of this invention is used for supporting rods and a roller horizontally across the top oi a window frame i, one oi the brackets being mounted transversely of each upper corner portion of the window frame and the rods and the roller being mounted between the brackets.

The brackets are of duplicate construction and each has a base or mounting member 2 which is formed from a blank of sheet metal or other suitable material. The blank is bent to form a channeled bar 3, having side walls 4 which corrverge, as shown in Figures 5 and 6, and cause the bar to be of dove-tailed formation in cross section. Ears 5 project from upper and lower side edges of the bar and through these ears are formed openings 6 to receive nails or screws 1 by means of which the bracket is secured to the window frame. Supporting members 8, 9 and IIJ are carried by the mounting member and are connected with the mounting member for adjustment longitudinally thereof, but held against tiltn ing movement transversely of the same, since the supporting members or brackets are disposed flat against the bar 2, and have portions bent to form arms which bear against the side walls of the dove-tailed bar of the mounting member. The mounting members are secured to the dove-tailed bar by screws I I, I`2 and I3, and since the bracket or supporting member 9 is formed with a longitudinally extending slot I4 through which the screw i2 passes, this member may be shifted 1ongitudinally or the bar and the screw then tightened to firmly hold it in a set position. By adjusting the supporting members 9 of the two brackets' I, their arms I5 may be disposed in such relation to each other and side edges of the window frame that when' a shade roller It is disposed between the brackets, its pintle will be engaged through the opening of arm or ear of one bracket, and the winding key for its spring engaged in the opening of the ear or arm or the other bracket and the roller supported across the window frame. The supporting members or brackets III' of the two brackets are each provided with a socket I1 to receive the rearwardly bent end portion of a rod I8 and outer end portions oi the supporting members or brackets 8 are rolled to form vertically extending sleeves or sockets I9 to receive bent end portions of a rod 20. The rods carry curtains and over-draperies by being passed through hems formed across their upper ends, and since the rods may -be formed longitudinally adjustable, they may accommodate themselves to the width of the window frame. By tting the screws into selected ones of the openings formed through the wall of the bar 2, adjustment of the brackets 8 and l' may be obtained, and the curtains and over-draperies caused to cover side portions of the window frame as much as desired.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A device of the character described, comprising a mounting member consisting of a channel-shaped bar member having inwardly converging side walls and having upper and lower extensions which extend outwardly from the lower edges of said side walls at an angle thereto and are formed with fastener-receiving openings, brackets straddling said bar and having close engagement with the front face and the upper and lower side faces of the bar, said brackets being secured to the bar by fasteners passed through the brackets and into threaded sockets formed in the bar, one bracket being formed with a longitudinally extending slot through which its securing screw passes, the slot allowing longitudinal adjustment of the bracket when its screw is loosened, and article-holding members carried by said brackets.

A device of the character described, comprising a mounting member consisting of a channel-shaped bar member having inwardly converging side walls and having upper and lower extensions which extend outwardly from the lower edges of said side walls at an angle thereto and are formed with fastener-receiving openings, brackets straddling said bar and having close engagement with the front faceand the upper and lower side faces of the bar, said brackets being secured to the bar by fasteners passed through the brackets and into threaded sockets formed in the bar, one bracket being formed with a longitudinally extending slot through which its securing screw passes, the slot allowing longitudinal adjustment ofthe bracket when its screw is loosened, and article-holding members carried by said brackets, the articleholding member of one bracket consisting of a tongue bent forwardly and formed with an opening for receiving a pivot of a window shade roller.

A device of the character described, comprising a mounting member consisting of a channel-shaped bar member having inwardly converging side walls and having upper and lower extensions which extend outwardly from the lower edges of said side walls at an angle thereto and are formed with fastener-receiving openings, brackets straddling said bar and having close engagement with the front face and the upper and lower side faces of the bar, said brackets being secured to the bar by fasteners passed through the brackets and into threaded sockets formed in the bar, one bracket being formed with a longitudinally extending slot through which its securing screw passes, the slot allowing longitudinal adjustment of the bracket when its screw is loosened, and article-holding members carried by said brackets, the article-holding member of one bracket consisting of a tongue rolled to form a vertically disposed sleeve open at its upper end for reception of an end portion of a curtain rod.

A device of the character described, comprising a mounting member consisting of a channel-shaped bar member having inwardly converging side walls and having upper and lower extensions which extend outwardly from the lower edges of said side walls at an angle thereto and are formed with fastener-receiving openings, brackets straddling said bar and having close engagement with the front face and the upper and lower side faces of the bar, said brackets being secured to the bar by fasteners passed through the brackets and into threaded sockets formed in the bar, one bracket being formed with a longitudinally extending slot through which its securing screw passes, the slot allowing longitudinal adjustment of the bracket when its screw is loosened, and article-holding members carried by said brackets, the articleholding member of one bracket consisting of a socket projecting forwardly from the front face of the bracket for receiving an end portion of a drapery rod.
