The present invention relates to electrical switches and more switches.
The primary objects of the" instant invention particularly to two-way are to provide a switch of the general character above indicated whereby the switch may be moved from its open circuit position to one of two selected circuit closing positions; to provide such a switch which is simple yet rugged and sturdy in construction, to provide such a switch which is compact in character; to provide such a switch composed of relatively few parts; to provide such a switch .whose few-parts may be readily and conveniently assembled into its completed condition;
to provide such a switch which is relatively light in weight; and, to provide such a switch which is reasonably economical in manufacture.
An illustrative embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
' Figure 1 is a perspective view of the switch;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of one of the two similar parts of the insulating housin members of the switch and it's terminal receiving clips;
Figure 3 is a top plan view similar to Figure 2' of one of the two similar parts of the insulating housing members of the switch and showing the manually operable transversely reciprocable switch bar;
Figure 4 is a central longitudinal sectional view of the switch;
Figure 5' is a transverse sectional view thereof; '4
Figure 6 is a perspective view of one of the two identical terminal receiving clips; and
Figure 7 is a perspective view of the middle terminal receiving clip.
Referring then to the ,drawing'wherein like parts of the switch shown are designated by the same numerals. in the several views, a pair of similar. housing members it, ll of any suitable insulating material are adapted to be secured together as by a plurality of'screw threaded bolts 12 and the inner face of the member II is provided with a longitudinal centrally disposed groove l3 and a pair of oppositely disposed grooves l4, l5, each branching outwardly from the centrally disposed groove. 5

respectively registering withthe grooves i4, i3, i5
when the members it, II are secured together in theirassembled relation and the member H is further provided with a pair of spaced transverse slots i3, 20 in its neck 2!.
The inner face of the other housing member I0 is provided with a transverse slot 22 in its neck 23 'of a width substantially equal to the width of the spaced slots i8, 20 with which the slot 22 is adapted to register when the two housing members are secured together in their assembled relation.
An electric cable having a pair of insulated wires 24, 25 is seated in the centrally disposed groove l3 of the member II, the bared end of long wire 24 being secured to a spring tenlioned terminal receiving clip 26 and the bared end of the shorter wire 25 being secured to a crimped transverse conductor 21 seated in the transverse slot l3.
A pair of like terminal receiving clips 28, 29 are respectively seated in the oppositely disposed branch grooves ll, i5 and each is provided with an angular neck portion 30, 3| whose outer ends are respectively provided with a crimped laterally disposed conductor head 32, 33 each seated in the transverse slot, 20.
A reciprocable manually operable switch bar 34 of insulated material provided with a centrally disposed metallic band is disposed within the slot 22 and between the crimped conductor 2'! and the pair of crimped conductor heads 32, 33 whereby the electric circuit between the terminal receiving clip 23 and the terminal receiving clips 28, 29 is broken when the switch bar 34 is in its middle reciprocable position and the circuit between the terminal clip 26 and the terminal clip 28 or 29 is closed depending on which way the switch bar 34 is moved from its middle position since the band 35 closes the circuit between the terminal receivin clip 26 of wire 24- and the conductor head 21 and conductor heads 32 or 33 connected with the terminal receiving clips 28, 29 respectively.
It will thus be seen that the two-way electric switch herein shown and described may be mantion as the same is defined in the following claim.
I claim: A two way electric switch having a circuit closing contact and a pair of circuit closing contacts in spaced relation to each other and in spaced parallel relation to said first contact, three spaced parallel terminal receiving clips disposed transversely of said circuit closing contacts, one of said clips being electrically connected to one of said pair of contacts and another of said clips bein electrically connected to the other of said pair of contacts, a pair of electric wires, one of said wires being connected to said first mentioned contact and the other of said wires being connected to said third clip. and a slidable switch bar disposed between said first contact and said pair of contacts having a circumscribing metallic band intermediate its length always in engagement with said first contact and slidable into selective engagement with one or the other of said pair of contacts.
