1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to a game device.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an attachment for a game table which will provide rubber cushions against which playing elements can be projected to be returned to target areas.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an attachment for providing a .rubber cushion on game tables which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and efficient in operation.
For a better understanding of the invention reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a top plan view of a game table with the cushion attachment secured thereto intermediate the length thereof,
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the cushion attachment,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary longitudinal -cross-sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2,
Fig. 4 is a transverse cross-sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Referring now to the gures, I represents a game table having a smooth top surface, and side and end walls I I and I2. Intermediate the length thereof is disposed cushion device I3 embodying the features of the present invention. This cushion device is provided at its ends with turned down portions I4 of a base strip I5. In the portions I4 are set screws I6 adapted to engage the sides of the table I0. The strip I5 has a wood piece I1 connected to it by wood screws I8. At the opposite sides of the wood piece I1 are rubber cushions I9 and 2I. A covering 22 extends about the wood piece and the rubber cushions I9 and 2I to retain the cushions and its ends are brought together at the top of the wood piece I'I. A top piece 23 is fixed to the wood piece I1 by screws 24 whereby to hold the ends of the covering together and to maintain the shape of the rubber cushions. Over the ends of the wood piece I1 there are extended angle pieces 25 to retain the covering 22. Each angle piece is retained by a screw 26. The opposite ends of the wood piece I 1 are recessed as at I1 and when the covering 22 is applied the covering will follow the contour of the recesses II' so that when the angle ypieces 25 are positioned on the wood piece I1 the upper portions of the angle pieces retained'by the screws 26 will flt the recess thus formed so that the plane of the covering and the plane of the surface of each angle piece will be in a 2 straight line te present a smooth surface for the reception of the top piece 23.
It will be apparent that there has been provided a cushioning attachment which can be easily and quickly attached to the top of a table and against whichplaying elements can be projected to change the direction of their movement.
Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A cushioning attachment for a game table comprising a metal base strip having turned down end portions, set screws in the end portions for fixing the attachment to a game table, a wood piece connected to the top of the metal strip, rubber cushioning elements disposed on opposite sides of the Wood piece and a covering extending about the wood piece, the strip, and the cushioning elements and having its meeting edges extending along the longitudinal center line of the wood piece and a top plate fitted over the meeting edges of the covering and extended outwardly over the cushioning elements to retain the covering and cushioning elements in place, said top plate being secured to the wood piece, and the opposite ends of the wood piece being recessed and the covering following the contour of the recesses, angle members tted over the covering and the wood piece at each end of the wood piece and received in the recesses to provide a smooth surface for the reception of the top plate and means for securing the angle members to the wood piece.
