My invention is directed to new and useful improvements in table tennis net assembly.
Table tennis may be briefly described as a and five feet wide, across the middle of which is stretched a net of given height supported at each end by standards clamped to the table. Wooden bats or racquets loid balls over the net and return, are scored in favor of the adverse part ever a player fails to and onto the other side The net to be used in this game is of a certain size and according to the rules, the top edge must be a given height from the table when in playing position. It is also desirable that the net can be speedily stretched to playing position and as readily dismantled. Heretofore the usual manner of securing the net in position has been by means of strings or tapes sewed to the ends of the net, the ds of which are tied to the standards. This is unsatisfactory because the tapes fray and wear out easily, accurate adjustment of the of the table top.
net is difficult and the knots loosen, causing the net to sag.
The primary object of my invention is to provide attachments adapted to to the ends of ards, whereby the net is accurately and easily adjustable, is readily assembled and disassembled and is maintained in evenly stretched position.
Numerous other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following detailed description of the invention.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is an end elevation of a table (partly broken away) showing the net and standards installed thereon, utilizing the novel means of my invention for fastening the net to the standards.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line 2-2 in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section along line 3--3 in Fig 2 means of screws 4 having flat bearing surfaces to abut against the under side of the The net is rectangular in shape and comprises a plurality of strings or cords "la V. I claim:
1. A table tennis net assembly comprising a rectangular netting, a doubled border enclosing the edges of said closing a portion of and clamped to said border adjacent each corner of said netting, bolts extending f rotation by said pocket having holes adapted to` receive said nuts adapted to be 2. A table tennis net assembly rectangular net standards bolts loosely and each extending for clamping said pockets to said border, headed bolts extending from and said heads fitting within said pockets and held thereby against rotation, a pair of standards having holes adapted toloosely receive said bolts and nuts adapted to be threaded on said bolts.
3. A table tennis net assembly comprising a rectangular netting, a border doubled to enclose the edges of said netting, der being bound together, leather strips doubled to form 'd border, rivets extending through said pockets and said border adjacent each corner of the headed said pockets against rotation,
