SPECIFICATION forming'part of Letters Patent No. 247,174, dated September 20, 1881.. Application filed July 11, 1881. (N0 model.)

\ To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. DAMRON, of Macomb, in the county of McDonough and State of Illinois, have invented certain Improvements in'Quilting Attachments for Sewing-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to [0 make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The nature and object of this invention is to construct suitable frames in such a manner that they can be attached to any and all kinds of sewing-machines; and its novelty consists, first, in a double track frame in two halves, each half provided with adjustable legs, the halves being attached on each side of the sewing-machine table and held firmly by means of a rubber or leather strap second, the arrangement and combination of a frame for holding the fabric to be quilted, composed of two crossheads mounted on adjustable rollers and provided with suitable receptacles to receive the side rods of the frame and bind them firmly by means of eccentric levers, as more fully set forth in the following descriptiornand pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view; and Figs. 2 and 3 are detached parts, enlarged to show more plainly the construction.

A in Fig. 1 represents the quilting frame, composed of two cross-heads, h and J, and side I'OCIS', I) D. At each end of the cross-head J 40 receptacles a a, are formed, into which the side rods, D D, are loosely fitted. The cross-head It has receptacles b b, which are constructed with follow-blocks e e, which, by means of the eccentric levers t i, act as clamps to hold the side rods, D D, firm when required.

The rollers n n are attached to the uprights r r r a", which are provided with a series of holes, which are for the purpose of raising or lowering the rollers. These uprights are held in place by pins passing through them and through the sheaths u a a u.

0 represents the sewing-machine table, to which, at each side, the frames B B are loosely attached by means of an elastic rubber strap,

which holds them sufficiently firm against the table. The upper edges of theframes B B form a track for the rollers n n, which have grooves cut in them at each end to fit said track. The legs d d are loosely fitted at their upper ends to the frames BB, and are held firmly by the brace rods to w, by \vhicluby means of the holes 8 s s s,the legs can bestayed at any angle that maybe required to make the frames B B the required height of the sewingmachine table.

The operation is as follows: The frames B B are placed on each side of the table 0', as shown. The legs (1 d are then adjusted by giving them the proper angle to make the frames B B the same height as the table at each end. The frame A is then placed on the frames B B, as shown. The fabric to be quilted is attached to and rolled around the rods D 1). Then by means of the holes in the uprights 'r r a" 7' the rollers 'n n are raised or lowered, as may be required, to bring the fabric to the same height as the platform of the sewing-machine. The frame A can now 'be'moved back and forth on the track, and the work can be done neatly and in workmanlike manner. When the ma chine is not in use the brace rods w to can be taken out and the legs folded, so that a very small space is required for storage.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- x 1. The double-track frame B B, in two halves, each half provided with adjustable legs (I d, and attached together and to the table 0 by the elastic strap 0, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. The combination and arrangement of the frame A, mounted on adjustable rollers n n, constructed with cross-heads h and J, receptacles a a and b b, rods D D, and eccentric levers 1 i, substantially as shown and described, for the purpose set forth.
