Description

(No Model.)
' A. G. LINNBAUM.
WATCH MAKERS TOOL- I No. 246,522. Patented Aug. 30.1 881.
WITNESSES INVENTOR ATTORNEYS ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTHONY Gr. LINNBAUM, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
WATCH-MAKERS TOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 246,522, dated August 30, 1881.
Application filed July 7, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Beit known that I, A. G. LTNNBAUM, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in I/Vatch-Makers Tools; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construc tion and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a perspective view of niyinvention. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail view; and Figs. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 are detail views of parts thereof.
This invention has relation to pinchers for Watch-makers use, especially adapted for holding and applying case-springs; and the invention consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letterA designates one branch, and B the other, ofa pair ofpinchers, the holdingend a ofone branch beinglonger than the holdingend b of the other, whereby thepinchers can better pick up an arti- 01s, the larger branch slippingunder the same. Opposite the end of the jaw b is formed, on the inside of the longer jaw a, the concave hearing d, and at the end of the shorter jaw b is formed, on the inside, a projection, e, which is provided with one or more notches, g, in the direction of the length of thejaw.
In order to facilitate the use of this instrument, adetachablejaw is usually provided, carrying the notched projection 13.
In order to hold the case-spring for filing, its flange is seated in the notch got the projection 0, and the pinchers are then closed. The
notched seat 9 is designed to fit the flange of the spring neatly, so that there will be little or no play.
Several detachable jaws are usually provided with each pair of pinchers, said jaws having notches of different size to suit a variety of case-springs. The detachablejaw is usually made with a dovetail rib, h, arranged lengthwise on its back, and designed to be seated in a longitudinal slot or seat, It, formed in the end of thejaw-stock l.
When the instrument is used for applying or holding the case-spring in position in the watch-case the concave bearing (1 is brought against the outer surface of the case, and the projection e pressed against the spring from the inside.
It is not always essential that thejaws shall be made of different length, or that there shall be a concave hearing; but it is preferred that the construction shall involve these features, as they render the instrument better adapted for the purposes referred to.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
1. The case-spring pinchers having on onehereunto subscribed my nam e in the presence of two witnesses.
