The invention relates'to a method and also to a device for restoring-to shape the walls ofdeformed'sheet-metal boxes andtheirlids, where'- by this work may be performed easily and at low costs.
.The method, according to the invention, con-- sists in'placing inside the boxes andlids a numher of profiling blocks presenting; at their assembled outer periphery, nearly'the peripheral shape of. a box ,to be reshaped; subsequentlyforcing these profiling blocks apart from each' other, after which a sleeve or frame, the'inner periphery of which corresponds, to the normal outer Peripheryof, thebox, is slid along the reshaped box; to completely flatten the Walls thereof 1 A1 devicefor carrying .out the method accord ing to they inventionis characterized in that a number ofprofiling blocks are so arranged with respect to, eachother and are so shaped that eliminating such volumetricdeformation by shrinking" the' area ofthe "walls ;of the box or thelid, so as toreduce the'dimensions of'said walls;
' "The. shrinking" effect is obtained by stamping ribs or the like-irregularities in" said walls; and for this purpose use canbe made upon the aforementioned device of press-plates having die .surfaces cooperating with outerdie surf acesgprovided on the profiling blocks. 1
The invention will be described hereafter with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which and 10, Public Law B90,'"August i8 1946f Patent expires April 12,1958

a form of embodiment of the device has been diagrammatically illustrated.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation partly in section of the device for restoring deformed boxes made of sheet-metal.
Fig. 2 is a plan view partially in section and having a top part removed for the purposeof clearness.
On the work-table l are arranged four profiling blocks 2 between which can be driven the wedge element 3. Over the profiling blocks 2 is-engaged the sheet-metal box to be restored to shape. Around the profiling blocks is arranged a supporting frame 5 formed in two parts. At the The box and the lid treated according to the invention will have recovered-its normal rectangular shape and can be efficiently reused for packing articles, such as biscuits and cakes,
