The object of my invention is to provide a novel and ornamental thimble and needle holder which will retain the needles in a concealed position but which may be readily opened to permit of withdrawing or inserting a needle.
I attain the objects of my invention by the device illustrated in the, accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 isa side elevation of the invention;
and
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal median section through the same.
Like numerals designate the views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 provide a thimble I having an innerk threaded portion 8, adapted to have a threaded engagement with the corresponding threaded portion of the cap member 2.
Mounted on the cap member 2 is an ornamental like parts in each of figure 3. The longitudinal channel 4 extends into the gure 3 functioning as a holder for needles. A tube 5 having a tight engagement with the base of the figure 3, projects into the cap 2 and engages the spool 6 which is extended and integral with a second spool 6a. These integral spools have a uniform and continuous channel 1 through them aligned with the tube 5 and longitudinal channel 4 in the ornamental figure When it is desired to insert needles in the holder, the thimble I is unscrewed at 8 from the inverted and the needles inserted in the channel 1. The thimble is then restored to its original engagement with cap member 2. l
When the user wishes a needle, all he has to do is to unscrew the thimble and both the thimble and needles are always together.
What I claim is:
1. A combined thimble, needle and thread holder comprising a cup shaped cap member having external screw threads adjacent the rim thereof, a central aperture in said cap, a sleeve tightly received in said aperture and extending inwardly and outwardly of said cap, an
(Cl. 223--109 l ornamental figure i'lxed on the outer portion of lsaid sleeve and having a longitudinal channel in alignment` therewith, an integral thread receiving double spool mounted on the inner portion of said sleeve, said spool having a longitudinal bore therethrough in alignment with said sleeve and said channel and providing a receptacle for a plurality ofv needles of varying lengths and a thimble having integral screw threads for engagement with the screw threads on said cap, said thimble providing a cover for said spool and a closure for said needle receptacle.
2. A combined thimble, needle, and threadr holder comprising a cap member having screw threads thereon, an aperture in said cap, a sleeve tightly received in said aperture and extending inwardly and outwardly of said cap, an ornamental gure xed on the outer portion of said sleeve and having a longitudinal channel in alignment therewith, a thread receiving spool mounted on the inner portion of said sleeve, said spool having a longitudinal bore therethrough in alignment with said sleeve and said channel and providing a receptacle for a plurality of needles of varying lengths andr a thimble having screw threads for engagement with the screw threads on said cap, said thimble providing a cover for said spool and a closure for said needle receptacle.
