The primary object of the invention resides in a stand for supporting an infant ohildin a reclining position for feeding direct from a mothers breast, thus eliminating the necessity of the mother holding the child during such feeding period.
Another feature of the invention is to provide a childs nursing stand adjacent which a nursing mother may assume a comfortable sittingjposition in a chair with both hands free, while the infant child is supported by the stand in a manner to directly nurse upon either breast without necessitating the mother changing her position relative to the stand. y
A further feature of the invention is the provision of a childs nursing stand which is adjustable as to height to suit the heightof a rnother in a sitting position, and "which is'further aid": justable to support a nursing infant childgin various inclined positions as well as in a horizontal position to meet the comfort of'jthe nursing child.
Other features of the invention'are totprovide' a strong and durable adjustable nursing stand for infants; to provide such a stand'whichjs portable so as to be moved into an out of-the way place when not'in use; and in which thev breast holder may be easily separated from the stand and thoroughly cleansed after each use to maintain the same in' a sanitarycondition.

Means is provided for simultaneously movin the clutch members 28 and 36 to a releasing position against the tension of the springs 29 and 39, and which includes an actuating lever 4| pivoted to the hand grip member 48. The manipulating portion of the lever 4! is so located relative to the hand grip member that when the hand of an operator is grasping the member 40, the thumb of thereto, said links also being connected to pins 44.

The hand grip member 40 enables the'outer arm section 23 to be supported by an operator when the lever 4| is actuated to release the clutch members 35 and 28 when it is desired to effect an axial adjustment of the arm 2i and/or an angular adjustment of the outer arm section 23 relative to the inner arm section 22.
The outer end of the arm 2| supports a basketlike platform 46 which includes a head end 41' and a foot end 48. A stub shaft 49 depends from the underside of the platform 45 adjacent the mid-portion thereof and has a toothed wheel 50 fixed thereto. The lower end of the stub shaft 49 is journalled in a bearing 5i provided at the outer end of the arm section 23 whereby the platform is free to be rotated about the axis of the stub shaft 49 to enable the reversing of the head and foot ends of the platform for reasons to be hereafter explained.
Means is providedfor releasably locking the platform against rotation and which embodies the toothed wheel 50. 'Atooth member 52 slidably mounted in a housing 53; at the underside of the platform 45 normally engages the toothed wheel 50 by the action of a spring 54. An actuating arm 55 has its inner end connected to the tooth member 52 whileits outer end terminates in a finger loop 56 adjacent the foot end 48 of the platform. By inserting ones finger in the loop 55 clamping screw 58 threaded therein. The eye 51 is adapted to interchangeably support a breast holder 59 shown in Figures land 2 or a nursing bottle holder 60 shown in Figure 4.
The breast holder 59 comprises a cup-shaped member 6| having a centralnipple apertureBZ.
Radial openings 63 are provided in the member 6| to provide ventilation when the breast of a nursing mother is positioned in the cup-shaped member with the nipple thereofextending through the central aperture 62. The member 6! is supported by the short upstanding arm of an L- shaped bracket 64, the long arm thereof extending through the eye 51 and held against sliding by the clamping screw 58.
The nursing bottle holder 60 is substituted for the breast holder member 59 when the infant child is to be fed from a bottle instead of direct from the breast of anurslng mother. The holder 60 comprises a bracket base 65 a bendable arm 66 rising from the outer end of the bracket, and a bottle holder member 61 at the upper end of the arm 68 in which a nursing bottle 68 is removably fitted.
In use of the stand l0, assume that a nursing mother is desirous of nursing her child direct from her breast. The pedestal ll is adjusted to the proper height for the mothers breast to com fortably fit into the cup-shaped member Bl while the mother is in a seated position in a. chair with the stand 10 drawn up close. The platform 46 is ach'usted on the axes of the stub shaft 24, pivot pin 32, and stub shaft 49, to the desired position to suit the comfort of the child. After the desired adjustments have been made, the child to be nursed is placed upon the platform 46 in a lying position with its head at the head end 4? and its mouth at the aperture 62 of the breast holder member Bl. Assume that the platform is in the position shown in Figure 1 wherein the head end thereof is at the right. The nursing mother places her right breast into the cup-shaped member 6| with the nipple thereof extending through the aperture 62 whereupon it may be reached by the lying upon the platform. After the child has nursed on the right breast and it is desired that it nurse upon the left breast, the mother grasps the loop 56 and pulls outwardly thereon to disengage the tooth member 52 from engagement with the tooth wheel 50, and while still grasping the loop 56, she imparts a turn to the platform 48 with the child still reclining thereon. Upon releasing the loop 56, the tooth 52 again engages the tooth wheel 50 and the platform is again locked against turning. The head end 47 is now at the left and by removing the cup-shaped mem ber 6| from what is now the rear side and replacing it at the left side in the eye 5'! the device is now ready to receive the left breast in the member 5 I for nursing thereon by the child.
During and after nursing of a child it is often necessary to raise the child to an upright position to relieve the same of stomach gases. This may be accomplished without removing the child from the platform by turning the arm 2! on the axis of the inner arm section 22 so that the foot end 48 of the platform will tilt downwardly.
If desired, suitable harness may be provided to securely hold the child upon the platform, for by the various adjusting means which control the positions of the outer arm section 23, the platform may be tilted sidewise as well as lengthwise in either direction.
For the comfort of the nursing mother while seated at the nursing stand it), I provide foot rests 69 on the lower post section (5 just above the base l2.
While I have shown and described what I consider to be the preferred embodiment of my invention, I wish it to be understood that such changes in construction, design and materials as come within the scope of the appended claims may be resorted to if desired without departing from the spirit of my invention as set forth in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A child's nursing stand comprising a pedestal, an arm attached to the upper end of the pedestal and extending outwardly therefrom, a platform rotatably supported at the outer end of said arm on an axis transverse to said arm, said platform having a head end, abreast holder,
means for supporting said breast holder at either side of the head end of said platform, and releasable latch means for securing the platform against rotation when the same is turned to an adjusted position.
2. A childs nursing stand comprising a pedestal, means for adjusting the height of said pedestal, an arm rotatably mounted on a horizontal axis at the upper end of said pedestal, releasable means for securing said arm against rotation, a platform rotatably supported at the outer end of said arm on an axis transverse to that of said arm, said platform having a head end, a breast holder, means for supporting said breast holder at either side of the head end of said platform, and releasable latch means for securing the platform against rotation about its rotating axis when the same is turned to a desired adjusted position.
3. A child's nursing stand as set forth in claim 2 in which the arm comprises an inner arm section, an outer arm section pivotally connected to the inner arm section, and releasable means for securing the outer arm section in various angular positions of adjustment relative to the inner arm section.
4. A childs nursing stand as set forth in claim 2 in which the arm comprises an inner arm section, an outer arm section pivotally connected to the inner arm section, releasable means for securing the outer arm section in various angular positions of adjustment relative to the inner arm section, and a single hand-operated actuating means for simultaneously releasing the releasable means for securing the arm against rotation and also the releasable means for securing the outer arm section in various positions of adjustment.
5. A childs nursing stand as set forth in claim 2 in which the releasable latch means includes a tooth wheel, and a finger operated spring catch member engaging said tooth wheel.
6. A child's nursing stand comprising a pedestal having a relatively heavy base, a rigid arm attached to the top of said pedestal and extending outwardly therefrom, a basket like platform rotatably mounted on a vertical axis at the outer end of said arm, said platform having a head end and a foot end whereby upon one half revolution of the platform will efiect a reversal of the position of the head and foot ends, releasable means for locking the platform against rotation, a nurs-- ing holder member, and means for interchangeably mounting the nursing holder member upon opposite sides of the head end of said platform.

A childs nursing stand as set forth in claim 2 in which the arm comprises an inner arm section, an outer arm section pivotally connected to the inner arm section, releasable means for securing the outer arm section in various angular positions of adjustment relative to the inner arm section, and a single hand-operated actuating means for simultaneously releasing the releasable means for securing the arm against rotation and also the releasable means for securing the outer arm section in various positions of adjustment, and a hand grip attached to the outer arm section and associated with the hand actuated means for manually supporting the arm when the arm sections are in released position.
8. A childs nursing stand comprising a pedestal, a rigid arm extending outwardly from the pedestal, a platform supported by said arm, and means for connecting said arm to the pedestal for permitting tilting of the platform in a plane transverse to said arm, said means comprising clutch parts on said arm and pedestal.
9. A childs nursing stand comprising a pedestal, a rigid arm attached to the pedestal and extending outwardly therefrom, a platform supported by said arm, the latter comprising two sections, substantially horizontal means for pivotally connecting the sections so that the platform can be raised and lowered about said means as an aXis, and means for securing the sections of said arm in adjusted position.
