This invention relates to childrens pajamas and particularly to loose fitting garments worn at night. With construction of childrens pajamas as heretofore made there are seams at the crotch and the child is subject to irritation and general discomfort due to the crotch seams, and also due to bunching of the material at the seams.

To overcome the shortcomings in childrens garments of the class described, I have conceived a structure wherein the objectionable seamed crotch is eliminated and the seams in the legs of the garment are disposed away from the creased edges of the inner sides of the legs of the garment.

An object of this invention is to provide a pajama having a one-piece. center section extending in elongated strip form from the-neck at the front of the garment down to the crotch and up to upper edge of a drop seat, to form a seamless crotch.

Another object of this invention is to provide a pajama having a balloon seat with a, pouchlike effect whereby the pajamas Will not irritate the child in all contorted sleeping or exercising positions.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention will be hereinafter more particularly described, and the combination and arrangement of parts will be shown in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims which form part of this specification.

Reference will now be had to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which:

Figure 1 is a front view of the garment.

Figure 2 is a rear View of the garment shown in Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view, the section being taken as on line 3-3 in Fig. 2.

Figure 4 is an elevational view of the one-piece seamless crotch center section.

In the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the numeral H1 indicates a loose fitting childs garment better known as pajamas and comprising a waist portion II and a trunk portion E2.

The waist has a neck opening [3 and sleeves M. The trunk portion has legs !5 which are loose fitting. The front of the garment is open down to a cross seam l6 forming a flap l1 integral with one section and detachably secured to the other section of the garment by buttons I8 which are sewed to one section and adapted to cooperate Q in button holes l9 formed in the other'section o the garment.

Figure 3 is a cross-sectional View, the section being taken as on line 3-3 in Figure 2. It will be noted that the drop seat I1 is of considerable within the seams. The seams 23 are disposed away from the adjoining side edges 24 of the legs IS. The side edges 24 of the legs l5 have only a single folded layer of fabric and thereby 'ver'y pliable, the'ofi'set relation of the seams 23 from the outer edges 24 providing a structure whereby no seams appear in contacting relation and this eliminates any chances of bunching of the fabric and irritating the child.

As shown in Figure 2, the upper edge portion 22 of the drop seat l'l' has a non-stretchable belt 25 having button holes 26 to receive buttons 21 secured to the waist II. The buttons and buttonholes provide releasable means for securing or releasing the drop seat H.

The upper edge portion of the center section at the drop seat has upright pleats 2B which cause a pre-determined surplusage of fabric in the drop seat.

The upper portion of the drop seat I1" is substantially the full width of the waist. The lower portion of the drop seat I1 is of convexly curved form to give in a bias direction at the curved sides and makes the drop seat more pliable and this adds to the non-irritating features of the drop seat.

The drop seat H is secured to the garment fabric by seams 29, which are made flat the same as the seams 23.

It is to be noted that while Figures 1 to 3 in clusive show the invention as embodied in a one-piece pajama, that, I may produce pajamas having the same non-irritating features in a two piece pajama.

In accordance with the patent statutes I have described and illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention, but it will be understood that various changes and modifications can be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

I claim:

1. In a childs health pajamas having at waist and a bifurcated lower portion and a drop seat, a one-piece center section extending in elongated strip form from the neck at the front of the garment down to the crotch and up to the upper edge of said drop seat to form a seamless crotch, the upper edge portion of said center section at said drop seat having pleats therein to cause a predetermined surplusage of material in said seat, the portion of said center section at the upper edge of said drop seat being substantially the full width of said waist, said drop seat narrowing in convexly curved form at its lower portion and merging into said elongated strip at the front of said pajamas thereby forming a balloon seat having a pouch-like effect, whereby said pajamas will not irritate the child in all contorted sleeping or exercising positions.

2. In a child's health pajamas having a waist and a bifurcated lower portion and a drop seat, a one-piece center section extending in elongated strip form from the neck at the front of the garment down to the crotch and up to the upper edge of said drop seat to form a seamless crotch, said drop seat having the threads thereof on the bias to render it somewhat stretchable, the upper edge portion of said center section at said drop seat having pleats therein to cause a pre-determined surplusage of material in said seat, the portion of said center section at the upper edge of said drop seat being substantially the full width of said waist, said drop seat narrowing in convexly curved form at its lower portion and merging into said elongated strip' at the front of said pajamas thereby forming a balloon seat having a pouch-like effect, whereby said pajamas will not irritate the child in all contorted sleeping or exercising positions.

3. A bifurcated lower garment having body portions and leg portions and comprising two side sections and a one-piece insert center section, said insert center section extending from the waist line in front through the crotch up to the waist band in back of the garment, said insert center section being of relatively narrow strip form in the front and gradually widening through the crotch and its rear side edges being convexly curved and having an upper rear edge extendingfor substantially the full width of the back, the rear upper edge of said insert center section being gathered so as to make the garment form-fitting at the waist, said insert center section having one of its edges attached to the adjacent edge of one of the side sections for its full length, the opposite side edge of the center section being stitched to the adjacent side section from a point above the crotch in the front of the garment to the waist band in the rear, the unstitched portions of said insert center section and said adjacent side section forming a fiy opening.
