SPRING-FASTENING FOR HARNESS.

This invention relates to spring-fastenings for harness, Sac.; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed outl in the claim.

In the drawings hereto annexed, A represents a suit-able metallic casin g, the under side of which is provided at the rear end with a recess, B, in which one end'of any harness-` strap, in connection with which the device is to be employed, may be riveted or otherwise secured. The front end of casing A is divided by avertical partition,0,from the main body of said casing, which is lettered D, in contradistinction to the front chamber, E. The upper and lower sides of the chamber D are slotted longitudinally to admit a stem, F, forced in a forward directionv by a sprin g, Gr, placed in said chamber D. The stem F carries at its upper end a covering-plate, H, sliding on top of the casing A. ',Ihe front chamber, E, of the said casing, which is open on top, is closed by the slide H. The front side of the chamber E of casing A has a vertical slot, I, to receive the shank J of aT-shaped hook, the cross-piece of which, K, is adjustable in the chamber E and retained in position by the slide H. The T-shaped hook J K is, of course, to be suitably attached to the harness or other strap which is to be connected to the strap to which the casing A vis permanently attached.

This invention is simple, inexpensive, convenient, and easily operated, and the parts connected by this spring-fastening can never become accidentally separated, except by breakage, which is practically prevented by the strength and solidity of the component parts.

Having thus described myinvention, [claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The combination, with the casing A, having long'itudinally-slotted upper and lower sides,

partition O, vertical slot I, spring G, stem F, and cover H, of the T-shaped hook J K, substantally as herein described, for the purpose shown and specified.
