1 Claim. 1
The present invention relates to wheeled toys and is more particularly concerned with a toy having mechanically operated dancing figures.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a toy of the character referred. to wherein superimposed dance platforms are revolved by means of groundwheels to whirl groups of toy dancers in interesting simulations of dances.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toy of the character referred to with superimposed dance platforms which are rotatable in opposite directions .to heighten the illusion of different dance sets going on at the same time.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive toy for amusement purposes which can be manufactured at a low cost.
With .the foregoing and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the .toy.
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is an horizontal section on line 3-3 of Figure 2, and
Figure 4 is the opposite side elevation to that illustrated in Figure 2.
Like numerals, as used in the description and drawings, designate the same parts of construction.
I is the fiat body of the toy, preferably oblong and supported in horizontal position by front and rear ground wheels I l and I2. These are mounted rotatably on stud axles I3 and I4 which project from the sides of the body in staggered relation, as hereinafter explained.
On the longitudinal median line of said body are .two suitably spaced perpendicular stud spindles IE on which are mounted rotatably two round tables I6. These are suitably spaced in a horizontal plane above the body in by means of spacer washers [1. As thus supported for revolvable purposes, the two tables are in contact on the underside with two ground wheels which serve to revolve the tables in opposite directions. The front table contacts the staggered front wheel I I on theleft side of the toy, as viewed from the front end while the rear table in like manner contacts the staggered rear wheel [2 on the right side.
Diametrically opposed to said staggered wheels, are smaller ones, Ill, mounted rotatably on stud shafts l9 supported on the base of the toy, and serving as idlers. The diameter of these idlers allows them to contact the underside of the two tables. It will be observed from the foregoing description, as well the illustrations that one front wheel and one rear wheel do not contact the said tables.
The two tables are designed to simulate dance floors and mounted thereon by any suitable means, either detachably or otherwise, are two groups of dancers in the forms of diminutive full length human images 26. These figures will be placed as desired and may be replaced by other and differently costumed figures.
When the toy is drawn along by a cord 2| attached to the front, the dance platforms will be caused to revolve and the images to whirl around in simulation of a wild and amusing dance.
As different embodiments may be made of this inventive concept and modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it will be understood that the matter herein is to be interpreted as illustrative merely, and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim is:
A wheeled toy, comprising a platform, front and rear ground wheels to support same, dual revolvable tables supported in longitudinal alignment on said platform, said ground wheels being staggered so that one front wheel impinges the underside of the forward table and one rear wheel impinges the underside of the rear table, idlers contacting the undersides of said tables and positioned in apposition to said impinging ground wheels, and a plurality of images mounted on said revolvable tables.
JESSE B. MOSHER.
