The present invention relates to improvements in gloves and more particularly in dress or semidress gloves for ladies and gentlemen. The improved glove of this invention furthermore pertains to an all cloth glove body which is substantially complete in itself, constructed of a reduced number of seams and provided with either a leather back portion or with a leather palm cover thereby providing a semi-dress glove adaptable for auto driving and the like when the'leather is secured to the palm side and affording a dress glove when the leather is applied to cover a portion of the glove back.

It is an object of this invention to provide an improved dress or semi-dress glove which is designed and constructed with improvements for increasing the assembly, adaptability and efiiciency thereof.

' It is also an object of this invention to provide an improved glove in which the main body of the gloVe is constructed of a trank including a combination back and palm form or blank in which either the palm or the back section may be provided with four integral finger pieces requiring four attachable finger pieces, or a trank in which the palm and back sections have six integral finger pieces requiring two separate finger pieces to complete the main body of the glove.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a dress glove wherein the main body of the glove is of cloth or fabric construction consisting of a main blank or trank with auxiliary finger blanks fiat seamed to either the palm section or to the back section, said main body of the cloth or fabric glove adapted to have secured thereto for covering the flat attaching seams of the auxiliary finger-pieces, a leather finishing blank including finger pieces to complete the finished appearance of the glove.

It is a further object of this invention to provide a glove constructed of blanks adapted to be readily assembled and including separate finger blanks adapted to be fiat seamed to a body blank to which a finishing cover of a selected material is stitched to cover the flat seams to provide a dress or semi-dress glove.

It is furthermore an object of this invention to provide an improved glove wherein the number of finger seams is reduced and the seams are on the side of the glove opposite to the side on which a leather covering is secured to cover finger piece attachment seams to enhance the appearance of the glove.

Other and further objects and features of the invention will be' apparent from the disclosures in the specification and the accompanying drawings.

The invention, in preferred forms, is illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter more fully described.

Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of the palm side of an improved dress glove embodying the principles of this invention and preferably constructed of a cloth body provided with an attached leather covering on the palm side including thumb and finger pieces.

Figure 2 is a composite developed plan view of the inner face of the trank or main body blank together with the thumb and four finger blanks of a left-hand glove and illustrating the six blanks required for the making of the main body of the glove.'

Figure 3 is a plan view in developed form of the outer or finished side of a leather palm: side covering including an integral leather thumb piece and a separate auxiliary leather thumb piece for the left-hand glove illustrated in Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a developed plan View of the left handed glove trank or main body blank shown in Figure 2 with the finger or sheath blanks positioned in proper associated relationship and secured to the trank or main body blank by means of butt or fiat seams and seamed to one another at their adjacent lower sides beneath the finger crotches.

Figure 5 is a developed plan view similar to that illustrated in Figure 4 but with the upper portions of the finger members broken away and showing the thumb cloth blank partly seamed in position and projected through the thumb opening to the inner side of the glove trank with the outer face of the thumb cloth blank showing and having the auxiliary leather thumb piece partly stitched thereto and also showing the triangular thumb crotch piece forming part of the trank extending into and seamed to the sides forming the thumb crotch slit.

Figure 6 is a plan view of the back of the fir ished left-hand glove illustrated in Figure 1 and showing the exposed cloth finger and thumb seams of the finished glove.

Figure 7 is an enlarged longitudinal detailed section of the middle finger sheath taken on line VII-VI; of Figure 1.

Figure 8 is a transverse detailed sectional view taken on line VIII-VIII of Figure 7.

Figure 9 is a developed plan view of a modified form of the glove illustrating a trank of a lefthand glove having six integral finger pieces and two separate second and third finger pieces illustrated in developed form at the side of the trank, said modified form of glove being of a type in which the leather covering is engaged over the back of the glove instead of on the palm side as illustrated in Figure 1.

The improved glove of this invention ispreferably a dress or semi-dress glove adaptable for use forboth ladies and gentlemen. The invention covers an all-cloth glove body including finger and thumb sheaths and an auxiliary trank and pattern of leather or other material adapted to be stitched on either the thumb side or the back side of the glove body depending upon whichside of: the glove the connecting seams for the separate finger pieces appear, as hereinaftermore fully described,

The gloves, of course, are adapted. to be both right and left hand gloves. The body'or main trank of a glove may be provided with either-four integralfinger. pieces or with six integralfinger pieces, respectively requiring four and two 69-. arateffinger pieces. The fiat. or butt" attachment seam for th finger pieces are adapted to be covered by an auxiliary or cover trank before final assembly of the glove to produce a dress or semi-dress glove in contrast to the ordinary types of reinforced work gloves usually provided with armored or heavily reinforced palm and back pieces secured to sections of the work glove.

For the sake of clearness one form of the improved glove as illustrated in Figures 1 to 8, inclusive, of the drawings covers a left-hand glove consisting of an all-cloth glove body with a cover section on the palm side of the glove, and including an integral thumb cover piece and a separate thumb cover piece, with said cover pieces constructed of leather or other suitable material sewn position to produce the finished glove, the palm side of which is illustrated in Figure l of the drawings.

In the form of glove illustrated in Figures 1 to 8, inclusive, the improved glove is adapted to be constructed out of six blanks or forms which are cut from cloth or other suitable fabric, while two of the blanks are preferably cut from leather or similar material.

' The glove may best be described by first describing the blanks out of; which the glove is adapted to be formed, said blanks being clearly illustrated in Figures 2 and 3. Referring first to Figure 2 which illustrates the six blanks which are cut from cloth and when sewed together form the main body of the glove, the reference numeral l indicates a main glove pattern or trank consisting of a back fold or shank portion 2, one end of which terminates in a wrist portion 3. Integrally formed along the opposite end of the trank back fold 2 is a first or index finger piece G, a second or middle. finger piece 5, a third or ring finger piece 6 and a fourth or little finger piece '1. Integrally formed along the outer longitudinal edge of the first or index finger piece 4 is a side stripii. Integrally formed on one side of the trank back fold 2 is a trank palm -fold 9 having a palm wrist portion l0 integrally formed on one. end. thereof and integral with the back wrist portion 3, Cut or formed in theback palm fold 9 is a thumb, opening ll formed at one end with an inwardly. projecting tapered or triangular thumb crotch piece 12. The opposite end, at one corner of the thumb opening II, is formed withtwo inwardlyprojecting spaced darts or projections i3 and I4 which when the thumb unit is being assembled respectively project into receiving notches l5, and. I6 on the main thumb blank which is formed of cloth; orof the same material asthe main body-portion of. the glove.

As. illustrated in Figure. 2, the main thumb blank comprises a minor wing or small thumb section, I-'| integrally with a major wing or large thumb section I8, The minor thumb section ll is formed with a curved edge in which the notch I 5.is. provided while the major thumb section 18 is provided. with the notch It in a curved edge thereof. The dart L4- is adapted to fit into the notch I6, while the dart I3 is adapted to projectinto the notch l5 when. the main thumb blank is assembled to form a thumb sheath. Still referring to Figure 2 the main body portion of the glOVe requires four additional finger pieces or blanks for cooperation with the finger pieces 4, 5, 6 and 7, respectively. For coaction with the first or index finger piece 4 there is provided a separate first or index finger blank or pattern 22, which is illustrated in Figure 2 in a developed plan view, showing the inner face of the blank which at one side is provided with a long longitudinal notch or recess formed by the edges 23 and 24 adapted to receive the side strip 3 cf the finger blank 4 seated therein and stitched thereto by a butt or fiat seam 25 as clearly illustrated in Fig. 4. The index finger blank 22 on the side opposite the longitudinal notch is provided with an integral index finger fourchette piece 26 the lower end of which terminates in an integral index finger crotch piece 27 which is spaced at one side from an index finger trank or extension piece 28 as clearly shown in Figure 2 bounded on two sides by the edges 29 and 3G.

Positioned next to the index finger blank 22 in Figure 2 is a developed plan view of the inner face of a second or middle finger blank or pattern 3! having integrally formed on one side thereof a middle finger fourchette piece 32 and on the other side of middle finger fourchette piece 33. Integrally formed on the lower end of the fourchette piece 32 is a middle finger crotch piece 35 while the opposite fourchette piece 33 is provided with a middle finger crotch piece 35. Integrally formed at the lower end of the middle finger blank 3i between the crotch pieces 34 and 35 is a middle finger shank or extension piece 56 bounded by side edges 3? and 38 and by an inclined bottom edge 39.

Positioned next to the middle finger blank 3! in Figure 2 is a third or rin finger blank or pattern it! formed with integral side fourchette pieces ii and 32, respectively terminating in integral crotch pieces 43 and M. Integrally formed on the lower end of the ring finger piece Gil is a shank 45 bounded by side edges t6 and ll and by an inclined bottom edge it.

Also shown in Figure 2 to the side Of the ring finger blank t is a fourth or little finger blank or pattern id having integrally formed on one side thereof a fourchette piece 59, the lower end of which terminates in an integral crotch piece i. Integrally formed on the lower end of the little finger blank 49 is a shank or extension iece 52 having a side edge 53 and a bottom edge 54.

The trank palm fold 5, as clearly illustrated in Figure 2, is formed at one end with a finger attaching margin bounded by the edges 55, E5 and 51. The finger piece shank bottom edges 29 and 39 are adapted to abut against the palm fold edge 55, while the bottom edge at of the ring finger shank 45 is adapted to be placed to abut the palm fold edge 56, leavin the bottom edge 5d of the little finger shank 52 to seat or abut against the palm fold edge 51. The bottom edges of the shanks of the four finger pieces are adapted to be stitched to the palm fold edges mentioned by means of cross stitching to form a fiat or butt palm seam 58 illustrated in Figure 4, with the inner end of said seam 5t terminating at the lower end of the index finger seam 25.

The shank edges 36 and 31 of the first and second finger blanks are sewed together to form a short seam 59 and the bottom inclined edges of the two crotches 2i and 3d are also stitched together to form an inclined crotch seam M3 to fit between the first and second fingers. In a similar manner the side shank edges 38 and 46 of the finger pieces 3| and 40 are adapted to be sewed together to form a seam 6| while the lower inclined edges of the two crotch pieces 35 and 43 are stitched together to form an inclined crotch seam 62 between the second and third fingers. The side edges 4'! and 53 of the shank pieces of the third and fourth fingers are adapted'to be sewed together to form a short seam 63 and the two inclined lower edges of the crotch pieces 44 and 5| are stitched together to form an inclined crotch seam 64 between the third and fourth fingers.

Before the cloth body portion of the glove is completed and before the thumb cloth blank is secured in place, the leather blanks for covering the palm side of the glove and portions of the cloth thumb sheath are first partly secured in place as hereinafter more fully described.

Referring now to Figure 3 of the drawings which illustrates the cover pieces, which are formed of leather or other suitable material, the reference numeral 65 indicate a main cover piece palm section, the outer or finished side of which is illustrated in Figure 3. Integrally formed on one end of the palm section 65 is a little finger piece 66, a ring finger piece 6'7, a middle finger piece 53 and an index finger piece 69. The index finger piece 69 has integrally formed on the outer side thereof a strip iii, the upper end of which is separated from the index finger piece 69 by a notch El leaving a triangular or tapered tip 12. Integrally connected with the cover piec palm section 65 and separated therefrom by means of an arcuate slit i3 is a leather thumb cover piece i l. Integrally formed on the outer side of the leather thumb cover piece 14 is an extension piece ?5, which in the finished glove extends over and forms a cover part for the back of the thumb sheath of the glove, while the main thumb cover piece 7 's is disposed on the inner or palm side of the thumb sheath and affords an integral thumb crotch at "it where the thumb cover piece 14 joins the cover piece palm section 65.

Illustrated in Figure 3 adjacent the leather thumb cover piece for the glove is an auxiliary thumb cover blank or pattern 17 constructed of leather or of the same material as the main cover piece palm section 65. Th auxiliary thumb cover blank ll has one end thereof formed with a curved or concave arcuate edge I8 the lower end of which connects up with a convex arcuate edge 19, the lower end of which terminates at a straight bottom edge 8. One end of the bottom edge terminates at the bottom of a long substantially straight side edge 8! which extends upwardly and terminates at the upper end of the concave arcuate edge 18,

Having described the eight blanks illustrated in Figures 2 and 3 of the drawings the glove is assembled by first assemblin the four auxiliary finger blanks 22, til, it] and 49 by sewing the in clined edges of the crotch pieces 27 and 34 together and then sewing the side edges 30 and 31 together to form the first crotch. The inclined edges of the crotch pieces 35 and 43 and the shank side edges 38 and G5 are sewed together to form the second crotch, and the inclined edges of the crotch pieces it and El and the shank side edges il and 53 are next sewed together to form the third glove crotch. The edges of the sid strip 8 of the first finger piece 4 are then sewed to the edges 23 and 24 forming the receiving notch in one side of the first finger blank 22. After this has been done the lower edges 29 an 39 or the extension shank portions 28 and 36 of the first and second fingers are then fiat seamed to the edge 55 of the palm fold 9, while the edge 48 of th third finger is fiat seamed to the palm fold. edge 56 and finally the bottom edge 54 of the little finger is flat seamed to the edge 51 of the palm fold 9'. The stitching of the finger pieces to' the palm fold is done to form flat or butt seams 25 and 58 as shown in Figure 4. The stitching of the seams 25 and 58 and the seams between the shank extension portions 28, 35, 45 and 52 are preferably sewed together by what is known as a zigzag machine to produce the desired fiat sea-ms on the palm side of the glove.

The auxiliary leather thumb blank TI is next placed in position on the outer" face of the cloth thumb blank section l8 and is secured thereto by sewing or stitching the edges 18 and 8i oi the leather blank 11 to the cloth thumb section l8= as shown in Figure 5. The cloth thumb blank is next secured in place by opening the cloth slit H and projecting the thumb cloth crotch piece 12 therein and then stitching the edges of the crotch piece 12 to the edges of the thumb blank slit. The thumb-blank edges containing the notches l and [6 are sewed to the edges of the thumb blank opening H in the trank palm fold 9, so that the dart or projection l3 fits into the notch l5 and the dart or projection M fits into the notch Hi.

The next step in the operation. is to place the leather cover blank upon the outer face of the palm side of the trank and then stitch the leather finger pieces 66, 51, 68 and 69 to the respective cloth finger blanks 49, 40, 3|, and 22 respectively. The operation is continued by stitching the main leather thumb blank 14 to the cloth thumb blank. The main part of the leather blank 14 is stitched to the thumb blank section l8- and with the side extension 15' of the thumb blank extending over to cover a portion of and be stitched to the cloth thumb blank section [-1. The margin 79 of the leather auxiliary thumb piece fl is projected under the margin of the cover blank palm piece 65 under an edge formed by the slit l3 and is stitched in place to the cloth palm fold 9. When the leather thumb blank 14 is stitched to the cloth thumb blank one margin of the blank M; formed b the slit 13-, projects over the margin 1'8 of the auxiliary leather blank 'iT and is stitched thereto and to the cloth thumb blank section [8. By doing this the leather thumb coverin pieces cover the palm side of the cloth thumb sheath with the leather crotch portion 16 of the leather cover engaged over and covering the cloth crotch seams of the crotch piece l2. The remaining. side edges of the cloth blank sections I l and t8 are now stitched together to form the main thumb seam 82. A seam 83 (Figure 6) is formed where the cloththumb blank section ll containing the notch 15 is sewed to the side of the thumb opening I l with the dart l3 fitting into the notch l5.

The next step in the assembly operation consists of folding the cloth back over upon the inner face of the leather covered: palm side of the glove and then stitching the cloth finger pieces 4; 5, 6' and l to the tips of the cloth finger pieces 22', 31, id and 39 respectively and to the respectivefourchettes to form the exposed finger seams 84 on the back side of the finger section of the glove. The open side of the glove is next sewed from the top of the little finger down to the beginning of the wrist or cuff portion of the glove toform an outer glove seam 85-. Finally the open end of the glove is sewed around the edges of the wrist or cuff portion of the glove to form the hem 85.

Referring to Figures '7 and 8 it will be noted that the finger sheaths are formed with finger seams only on the back side of the finger portion of the glove and that there are no connecting seams on the palm side of the fingers. The leather c'over trank 65 covers the fiat finger attachment seams 58 and the fiat seam 25 between the first finger blanks to produce a finished dress or semi-dress glove consisting of an all-cloth dress glove body section provided with a leather covering on the palm side covering the fiat seams 25, 58, 59, El and 63 and also covering the cloth thumb crotch seams to provide an attractive as well as comfortable glove.

The improved glove as clearly illustrated in Figure 6 is constructed with less seams than the ordinary types of gloves, and while exposed seams are illustrated and described in connection with the four fingers and the thumb it will of course be understood that seams may be of the hidden or inturned type. Attention is also called to Figure 8 in which only two back seams are required for the second and the third fingers while the first finger and. the little finger have the finger seams extending only across the tip and then down on the inner side of the back of said fingers. lhe little finger outer seam extends downwardly from the tip of the finger and continues along the side of the glove to form the main glove seam $5 which extends down to the cuff or wrist portion. The stitching of said side seam is also used to stitch one side of the leather cover trank 65 in place. As further shown in Figure 8 it will be noted that there are no finger seams beneath the leather finger pieces 65, 6'1, 63 and 69, which feature together with the fact that the auxiliary cloth finger pieces are secured to the main trank of the glove by means of fiat or butt seamsproduces not only a very comfortable but also an attractive glove adaptable for dress or semi-dress use.

Figures 9 and 10 illustrate a modified form of dress or semi-dress glove adaptable for use for ladies or gentlemen and covering a type in which a cover constructed of leather or similar material is secured to cover the back portion of the glove instead of the palm portion as shown in the glove illustrated in Figure 1. In the modified form of glove illustrated in Figures 9 and 10 the main body portion of the glove is constructed of cloth or other selected material and in which the thumb sheath may also be constructed only of cloth, without leather cover pieces, and may be formed from any selected standard type of thumb blank or pattern or from a cloth thumb blank of the type shown in Figure 2.

For the sake of convenience a left-hand glove is illustrated in Figures 9 and 10'. Figure 9 shows the outer faces of the three blanks or patterns for forming the main body of the glove with the thumb blankor pattern omitted and also showin the leather back cover partly in elevation and partly in dotted lines. The main body portion of the gloveis adapted to be formed from a trank constructed of cloth or other similar material and comprising a trank palm fold portion 87' provided with a thumb opening 88. Integrally formed on the trank palm fold. portion 8'! are four finger pieces, namely a first or index finger piece 83, a second or middle finger piece 9!), a third or ring finger piece 91', and a fourth or little finger piece 92; Integrally connected with the trank palm fold portion 8'! is a trank back fold portion 93 other side of the index finger back piece 94 is a fourchette extending from the tip of the finger piece 9d and terminating at the opposite or inner end in a crotch piece 96. formed on the trank back portion 93 is afourth or little finger back piece 9? having integrally formed on its inner side thereof a little finger fourchette 93 terminating little finger crotch piece 99. This construction leaves a space between the index and little finger pieces for the auxiliary-middle and ring finger pieces or blanks. Integrally formed on the trank back fold portion 94 and 97 is a back fold extension piece I85; having a short inclined edge Ifli and a long inclined edge IE2. I

Stitched to the trank back fold 93 and to the finger pieces formed thereon and seamed thereto is a back cover piece or trank I 3 having integrally formed on one end thereofa first or index finger piece I04, a second or middle finger piece I05, a third or ring finger piece I06 and a fourth Also integrally or little finger piece I01. I I I Also shown in Figure 9 is a second or middle finger blank or pattern I08 having integrally formed on one side thereof a fourchette I09 terminating at its lower end in a crotch piece I I0. Integrally formed onthe opposite'side of the middle finger blank I08 is a fourchette III terminating at its lower end in a crotch piece H2. The lower end of the middle finger piece I08 is provided with a. notch formed by the edges H3 and H4.

Also shown in Figure 9 in a third or ring finger blank or pattern I I5 having integrally formed on one side thereof a fourchette' H terminating at its lower end in a, crotch piece II'I. Integrally formed on the opposite side or the third or ring finger blank II isafourchette I I8 terminating at its lower end in a'crotch'piece H9. The lower end of the third or ring-finger blank H5 terminates in an inclined edge I20.

The second or middle back finger blank I98 has the lower end thereof positioned so that the notch therein will fit against the edges of the triangular portion of the back fold extension I00 with the edge H3 of the notch contacting the edge lei of the extension and with the edge I I4 seating against a portion of the extension edge 502. The lower end of the third or ring finger blank I I9 is positioned so that the lower inclined edge I29 thereof abuts or seats against the lower portion of the inclined edge I02 of .the backeX- tension I00. The lower edges of the finger blanks I as and I I5 are secured'to the back fold extension lot by means ofbutt or flatseam zigzag stitching to form the flat seams I2I and I22. The three crotch seams are now formed by stitching together the lower inclined crotch between the first and second fingers, then stitching the-lower inclined edges of the crotch pieces II2 andII'I to form an inclined crotch between the second and third fingers, and finally stitching together the lower inclined edges of the crotch pieces 99 and ill! to form an inclined crotchubetween' the third and fourth fingers; i

The final assembly of the modified form of glove shown in Figures 9 and 10 isaccomplished by and I22 by the leather folding the trank along the dotted line between the trank palm fold portion .81 and-the back fold portion 93 and then stitching the respective finger blanks on the palm fold section to the finger units on the back fold section to form the finger sheaths, andfinally completing the main seam from the top of the little finger downwardly along the body portion of one side of the glove to the end of the glove or to the cuff or gauntlet portion of the glove if the same is sorconstructed.

Figure 11 shows the outerface of the trank while Figure 12 illustrates the inner face of the trank of the glove. The palm fold portion I 24 is provided with a thumb opening I25 for the reception of a thumb sheath, which is not shown but which may be of any standard type and is constructed of the same material as. the trank of the glove. I ntegrally formed on one end of the trank back fold portion I23 isja first or index finger back piece I26, a second or middle finger back piece I21, a third or ring finger back piece I28 and a fourth or little finger back piece I29.

g The trank palm fold portion I24 has integrally I30, one side of which is integral with the index finger back piece I23. Integrally formed on the oppositeside of the index finger palm -pieoe I30 is a fourchette I3I, the upper end of which terminates at the tip of the finger piece I30 while thelower end is formed with an integral crotch piece I 32. The finger piece I30 extends downwardly below the crotch piece I32 in the formof a shank I33 to join the palm fold portion I24. Also integrallyformed on the trank palm fold portion I24 is a fourth or little finger palm piece I34 having integrally formed on the inner side thereof a iourchettel35 the lower end of. which terminates in acrotch piece I36. 7

As clearly illustrated in Figure 11 the trank palm fold portion I24 is provided with a space between the first and fourth fingers for the reception of separate finger pieces or blanksfor forming the palm side of the second andthird fingers. The opening for thesecond and third fingers is bounded on one side by the shank I33 of the first finger and on the opposite side by the shank I31 of the little finger I34, and on the bottom by a second finger inclined attachingedge I38 and a third finger inclined attaching edge I39. As :shown in "Figure 11 thetwo inclined 11 edges I38 and 119 are formed on the upper middle portion of the trank palm fold portion I24 and extend downwardly to meet one another. Also shown in Figure 11 is a second or middle finger blank or pattern I40 having integrally formed on one side thereof a 'fourchette I4I terminating at its lower end in an integral crotch piece I42. Integrally formed on the other side of the middle finger piece I40 is a fourchette I43 terminating at its lower end in an integral crotch piece I44. Intcgrally formed on the lower end of the second or middle finger blank I4!) is a shank I45 terminating in an inclined lower edge I45,

In this particular form of glove it will be noted that the leather cover piece or trank covers the butt or fiat seam I54 connecting the second and third finger pieces to the palm fold section I24, and also covers the short fiat seams between the shank portions of the finger blanks on the palm side of the glove between the flat seam I54 and the finger crotches.

It will be noted that the drawings disclose dress or semi-dress gloves in which the main body of the glove is constructed of cloth or other suitable selected material formed from a trank and associated finger pieces which are attached in place by means of flat or butt seams either on the back or the palm side of the glove depending upon the portion of the glove on which it is desired to have the leather cover piece applied, so that the flat seams are covered leaving only a minimum number of exposed seams on either the back of the glove or on the palm side of the glove opposite the side on which the leather cover trank is secured.

While the forms of gloves herein illustrated and described are of a type constructed of tranks having the back and palm sections integrally connected, it is to be understood that the body of the gloves may also be constructed of individual back and palm sections, for which only one additional body seam will be required opposite the main body seam for the formation of a complete glove.

It will, of course, be understood that various details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention and it is, therefore, not the purpose to limit the patent granted hereon otherwise than necessitated by the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

I. In a glove, including a body unit formed of a trank consisting of integral back and palm fold portions and four finger pieces integral with the back fold portion, four auxiliary finger pieces fiat seamed to the palm fold portion, fourchettes integrally formed on the auxiliary finger pieces and seamed to the back fold finger pieces to form fir ger sheaths with seams Only on the back sides thereof, crotch pieces integrally formed on the fourchettes with the crotch pieces of adjacent fourchettes seamed together to form inclined crotches between the finger sheaths, and a main cover piece including four finger cover pieces respectively secured to the palm fold portion and to the four auxiliary finger pieces and coverin the flat attachment seams thereof.

2-. In a glove including in combination a body comprising a tram: consisting f integral back and palm fold portions and first, second, thirdand fourth finger blanks integrally formed on one of said trank' portions, said first finger plank having a side longitudihfil extension strip formed thereon, first, second, third and fourth auxiliary finger blanks fiat seamed to the other of said trank portions, each of said auxiliary finger blanks havingfourchette and crotch pieces formed thereon with adjacent crotch pieces stitched together to form inclined crotches between. the finger blanks, said auxiliary finger blanks and the fourchettes thereof seamedto the 13 corresponding integral finger blanks to form finger sheaths with seams only on one face thereof, said auxiliary first finger blank having a recess formed longitudinally in one side thereof for receiving the extension strip of the integral first finger blank secured therein by a flat seam, and

a main cover piece including four finger cover pieces stitched to the trank portion to which the auxiliary finger blanks are fiat seamed With said finger cover pieces stitched to the finger sheath faces opposite the seamed faces thereof and covering the fiat seams of the glove body unit.

3. A glove comprising a trank consisting of integral back and palm fold portions and first, second, third and fourth finger blanks integrally formed on one of said trank portions, said first finger blank having a side extension strip formed thereon, a thumb sheath secured to one of said trank fold portions, first, second, third and fourth auxiliary finger blanks flat seamed to the other of said trank fold portions, each of said auxiliary finger blanks having fourchette and crotch pieces formed thereon with adjacent crotch pieces stitched together to form inclined crotches between the finger blanks, said auxiliary finger blanks and the fourchettes thereof seamed to the corresponding integral finger blanks to form finger sheaths with seams only on one side thereof, said auxiliary first finger blank formed with a recess in one side thereof for receiving the side extension strip of the integral first finger blank secured therein by a fiat seam, and a main cover piece including four finger cover pieces stitched to the trank fold portion to which the auxiliary finger blanks are flat seamed with said finger cover pieces stitched to the finger sheath faces opposite the seamed faces thereof and covering the fiat seams of the glove, said fourth finger blanks and the fourth finger cover piece stitched togetherto form an outer main glove seam which continues along one side of the glove to stitch one side of the main cover piece and the open sides of the trank fold portions together.
