Fig 1 i ATTORNEY WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY E. RICHARDS, OF OTTAWA, ILLINOIS.
DOOR-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 241,882, dated May 24, 1881.
Application filed October 23, 1880. Model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY E. RICHARDS, of Ottawa, in the county of La Salle and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Parlor-Door Hangers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part'ot' this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figurel of the drawin gs is a vertical section. Figs. 2, 3,, 4, 5, and 6 are details.
This invention relates to devices for'operating doors; and it consists in the construction hereinafter specified.
In the annexed drawings, A is the studding, B the tracksupports, and U the tracks.
D is a roller composed ot'two portions, 1), connected by an axle, b, the portions b being preferably flanged and having a rubber band around their peripheries.
Projecting up through slot E, between the tracks 0, is a rider-bar, F, whose upper bar,
f, passes over axle b. This rider-bar F is composed of astrong metal loop having an upper portion or bar, f, side arms, f f, the curved bearings c c, and a lower bar, f having slides n n.
H represents a door, to the upper edge of which is fastened a plate, I, having slots tand projecting ridges i i, with a recess between them. At one end ofplate I is a lug, 0', through which passes a set-screw, H, engaging a lug, f upon rider-bar F.
G is an adjustable bearing made fast to bar f of IlGBI bEH F.
The plate 1 is made fast to the top of the door. Rollers D are put in place with their riderbars projecting down through slot E. The slides n n of the rider-bar are slipped into slots 6 7;, and the iider-bar is made fast by screw H. In case the door should sag or droop at one end it may be lifted or leveled by means ofthe set-screw H.
I claim 1. The combination of door H, plate I, having slots ii, rider-bar F, having slidesnn, and set-screw H, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination ofthe tracks 0, roller D, composed of two portions, b b, connected by an axle, b, rider-bar F, having bearings e 6, slides n n, and lugf plate I, having slots M and lug i set-screw H, and a door, H, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
ln testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
HENRY EUGENE RICHARDS.
