Description

Sept. 10,1946. v s, BEER 2,407,393
LADYS HAIR ORNAMENT FiledfJul 14, 1945 INVENTOR. Shy "r124 Be/rr BY I Patented Sept. 10, 1946 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFlCE LADYS HAIR ORNAMENT Siegfried Behr, Flushing, N. Y.
Application July 14, 1945, Serial No. 605,102
Thi invention relates generally to ornaments for ladies hair.
One object of the invention is to provide a hair ornament especially adapted for straight up hairdos.
Another object is to provide such a hair ornament with spaced comb sections for readily attaching and detaching the ornament to and from the hair of the wearer.
Another object is to provide a hair ornament that is simple in construction and economical to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the description thereof to follow taken in connection with the accompanying drawing in which- Fig. 1 is a top plan view of a hair ornament embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the plane of the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary top plan View of a modified form of overlappingends.
Fig. 4 is a front View of the device of Fig. 3.
Referring to the drawing, the improved hair ornament comprises a split annular body portion 5 formed of plastic material or other suitable material that fiexes. The split ends 6 and I normally slightly overlap each other as shown in Fi 1.
The body portion is rectangular in cross section and between the upper and lower edges thereof the body portion is formed with openings 1 Claim. (Cl. 132-46) 8 which may be of any suitable design for ornamentation purposes.
Formed on the lower edge of the body portion at spaced intervals therealong are a number of horizontally disposed integral comb sections 9, the teeth 10 of which project inwardly as shown in Fig. 1.
In the modified form of the invention shown in Fig. 3 the split end ll of the body portion is formed with protuberances l2 on its outer surface and the split end [3 carries a ring member Hi. When the split end H is inserted into the ring member M, the latter is adapted to engage the protuberances l2 and yieldingly hold the ends together.
I claim:
A ladys hair ornament comprising a split annular flexible body portion formed of plastic material with spaced openings therearound, the end portions of said body portion yieldingly positioned in overlapping relation, spaced comb sections formed integrally with the lower edge of said body portion, the teeth of the separate comb sections being positioned close together and extending inwardly at right angles to the body portion, protuberances on the outer surface of one of said overlapping end portions and a ring member of plastic material carried on the other end portion adapted to coact with said protuberances for yieldingly holding the end portions in overlapping relation. I
