This invention relates to costume jewelry, and more particularly to a detachable holder for a vanity case having means for pinning it upon a womans wearing apparel.

One object of the invention is to provide a a composite holder and vanity case Which will blend together in an artistic and decorative manner,

A further object is to provide an article of the above nature which may be detachably pinned upon any desired part of a woman's external ensemble.

A further object is to provide a composite article of jewelry of the above nature which will facilitate the use of a vanity case, avoid the necessity of carrying it in the hand or in a pocketbook, and will prevent it from becoming mislaid.

A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which will be simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and manipulate, compact, ornamental in appearance, and very efiicient and durable in use.

With these and other objects in view, there has been illustrated on the accompanying drawing one form in which the invention may conveniently be embodied in practice.

Fig. 1 represents a perspective view of the composite holder and vanity case as it appears in assembled position and pinned to the wearing apparel of the user.

Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same, taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, looking downwardly.

In the present day fashions of women's dress, it is well-known that there is no convenient place for carrying vanity cases or other articles of this type, and therefore, one purpose of the present invention is to provide a simple and effective holder for a vanity case, which holder may be pinned to the wearing apparel in such a manner as to permit the vanity case to be easily removed therefrom.

Referring now to the drawing in which like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral ill indicates an attachment pin having a rounded knob I l at one end, and a tapered point l2 at the other end. In order to hold the pin securely in position,

(01. 63- -2) V M 2 it is provided'adjacent the point I2 with a short threaded section l3, and the pin is adapted to Ipenetrate the wearing apparel M at two points Ila, llb in the manner shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The pin "I also is attached to a depending rectangular holder I5 which has on its upper end a pair of rearwardly-extending lugs I5, I". The lug I6 is drilled throughout its length, while the lug I1 is drilled at the outer half of its length, and is tapped with interior screw threads Ila for the remaining inner half of the length thereof.

In order to frictionally hold a vanity case 26 detachably within the rectangular holder [5, provision is made of a pair of V -shaped resilient staggered locking leaf springs l8, l9 which are preferably soldered or cemented to the horizontal top and bottom walls 20, 2| of the holder.

Operation In the operation of the present invention. when it is desired to attach the vanity case holder I! to the wearing apparel l4, it will merely be necessary to pass the pin fastener l0 through the rear lug l6, and then push the point I2 through the wearing apparel ll at the two points Ha, Mb, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The point l2 of the pin In will then be inserted into the aperture in the lug IT as far as it will go. The knob II will then be twisted, causing the threaded section I3 to be screwed into the tapped section Ila of the lug l1 until the pin Ill reaches the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

The holder l5 will then be ready to receive the vanity case 26 which will be manually inserted within the top and bottom walls 20, 2|] and the side walls 22, 23, as far as it will go, until it engages the base 30 of the holder.

While there has been disclosed in this specification one form in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that this form is shown for the purpose of illustration only, and that the invention is not to be limited to the specific disclosure, but may be modified and emgular shape having a pair of rearwardly-extend ing lugsat the-upper end thereof-, apointed at taching pin passing through said lugs to detacha-bly secure said holder to an article of wearing apparel through which said pinjs passed, a L

The invention as defined in claim 1, in;which' said pin is provided with: a threaded section located a short distance frointhe point thereof, and in which one of the lugs of said holder is provided with a tapped section to cooperate with said threaded section for locking said'pin in attaching position.

5. In an article of jewelry, a holder of rectangular shape having a pair of rearwardly-extending lugs at the upper end thereof, a pointed attaching pin passing through said lugs to detachably secure said holder to an article of wearing apparel through which said pin is passed, a

vanity caseshaped to loosely fit within said holder, and inwardly-extending means on the "inner walls of said holder for detachably holding said vanity case in position, said pin having an enlarged lug-engaging knob on the end opposite from its point.

6. The invention as defined in claim 1, in which a. pair of staggered V-shaped leaf springs are soldered to the upper and lower end walls of said holder for detachably engaging said vanity case when it is pressed rearwardlyinto position in said holder. I
