((1155-65) running therethrough and a rod passing through I the pipe, and a pair of ropes attached to the ends of the rod which project beyond the pipe, the construction being such that the rod is removable from the pipe so that the horse may be taken off its suspension.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a strong, rugged and attractive hobbyhorse of the character described which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, amusing to play with and practical and efiicient to a high deree in use.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in'part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplifled in the construction hereinafter described,
shown in the drawing are shaped and decorated to simulate the front part of the horse, that is a head 23, a neck 24, chest or shoulder portion 7 height since it may be placed in any one of the openings 29. The rod 29 preferably has a push or friction fit within the openings 28 so that it will stay inplace when inserted into one of the openn s.
.The neck portion 24 of the horse is formed with a through opening 3| and extending therethrough is a pipe 32 which may be fixed to the horse by a drive or force fit within the opening 3 I. Extending through the pipe 32 is a rod 33 which extends beyond th pipe at both ends.
A pair of suspension ropes 35 may be provided with snaps 36 at their lower ends engaging the projecting ends of rod 33. Cotter pins 31 on the ends of rod 33 prevent the snaps from sliding off the rod. It will be understood however, that the snaps may be disengaged from the rod and the rod pulled out of the pipe 32 when it is desired to remove the horse from the suspension. The rear end of the horse may be suspended by means of a hook it fixed to the rear end of .body l2.
A third rope ll may be provided with a snap hook 42 at its bottom end engaging the hook or eye 40. On top of the body l2 may be attached a seat or saddle 45 on which the child sits.

Referring now in detail to the drawing, l0 designates a hobbyhorse embodying the invention. The same comprises a front part II simulating the horses head, shoulders and front legs, a body portion l2 hinged to the front part in the man- 'ner hereinafter appearing, and a pair of hind legs l3, and i4 hinged to the rear of the body on opposite sides thereof as will be explained in reater detail hereinafter.
The front part II comprises a pair of spaced parallel similar boards 16 with intervening filler board I1 nailed thereto. The filler board I] is cut away as at 18 to receive the front portion of the body I 2 which is insertedbetween the boards IS. The body I2 is pivoted to member II by means of a transverse bolt 20, passing through the board l8 and the body l2. The boards l8 as The hind legs l3 and I4 are pivoted to the body l2 by means ofa transverse bolt 50. Said hind legs are separately swingable and are disposed on opposite sides of the body l2.
Motion is created by pressure from the childs feet on the rod 29 and by pushing or'pulling with hands on pipe 32. The length of the swing is governed by the length of chains or ropes by leg portion I4 constitutes a free swinging lever,
being wholly supported by the bolt ID. The front lever is supported by two parallel ropes and the body portion or horizontal lever is supported by a single rope.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and. not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A swinging hobbyhorse consisting of a vertical lever constructed to simulate the head, front shoulder and front legs of an animal, said lever having a cavity midway of its ends extending through the rear edge of said lever. a horizontal lever constructed to simulate the body of an animal and having its forward end disposed in said for swin ing, and a foot bar extending from opposite sides or the vertical lever below the pivot connection thereof with the horizontal lever.
