H. MISHLER.
Handle for Earthenware Vessels.
No. 238,420. Patented March 1,1881.
WITNESSES JV VIZZZR 11 Attorney's @Wm QQ/wflg NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY MISHLEB, OF MOGADORE, OHIO.
HANDLE FOR EARTHENWARE VESSELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 238,420, dated March 1, 1881.
Application filed December 30, 1880. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY MISHLER, a citizen of the United. States, resident at Mogadore, in the county of Summit and State of v Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Handles for Earthenware Vessels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a representation of a perspective of my vessel, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same.
This invention relates to earthenware vessels.
The invention consists in the construction hereinafter described.
In the drawings hereto annexed, A is an earthenware stew-pan, skillet, or other vessel, having at its upper edge, B, to one side, the lugs O 0, having the registering holes 0 c and the space D between.
t E is a handle of wood, of a size to suit the vessel, and having its inner end, 0, corresponding to the space I) between lugs O O, and having in said end the hole 0. F is a fasteningpin.
The end 6 of handle E is placed between lugs O O, the holes 0 c and e registering, and the pin F is slipped in, being held as an ordinary dowel, or by a head and nut. This gives a good serviceable handle, which is detachable in case of breakage, and, being a bad conductor of heat, can be held by the hand without fear of burning.
What I claim is The combination of earthenware vessel A, having lugs O 0, provided with holes 0 c, the wooden handle E, provided with hole 6, and fastening-pin F, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY MISHLER.
