This invention relates to new and useful improvements in an apron and the like garments.

More particularly, the invention proposes a new apron which is characterized by an arcuate 1y shaped wrap-around skirt portion and a waist portion of a particular construction.

More specifically, it is proposed to characterize the waist portion by a pair of side panels, each of which is in the form of a panel strip attached at its front bottom edge to the central front portion of the skirt portion and extending obliquely upwards and outwards for engaging over ones shoulder and down the back'and at its back bottom edge being attached to the adjacent top end portion of said skirt portion. It is proposed that the shoulder portions be provided with an arm opening. It is further proposed that the outer edge of each panel strip at the front be folded into a dart which is stitched down, and which dart extends from the top of the waist portion to the bust areas of thepanels, giving fullness to the waist portion of the garment.

The invention further contemplates the provision of means for holding the apron closed when worn.

Still further the invention proposes a new blank or pattern for guiding the cutting of the side panels of the waist portion of the garment. v

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within thescope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. In an apron and the like garment having an arcuately shaped wrap-around skirt portion and a waist portion attached to the top edge of said skirt portion, said waist portion being formed of separate side panels each'consisting of a panel strip attached at its front bottom edge to the central front portion of said skirt portion and having openings disposedintermediate the top portion of said skirt and the adjacent portions of said side panels, each of said panel strips being extended obliquely upwards for engaging over ones shoulder and down the back and having the bottom edge of its back portion attached to the adjacent top end portion of said skirt portion, and a dart formed in the outer edge of the front portion of said panel strip and extending from the top of the waist portion to the bust area of the panel.

2. In an apron, a waist portion formed of separate side panels each of which consist of a panel strip having its free front bottom edge extended to a point adjacent the waist of the wearer, each of said panel strips extending obliquely upwardly from said point and engaging over the shoulder and down the wearers back and terminating at a point adjacent the waist of the wearer, means at the waist of the wearer for securing said strips at said points, said waist portion having openings disposed intermediate said means and the adjacent portions of said panels.
