Description

JuneS,
1945. G. CLARK WRENCH Fild Aug. 19, 1943 Inventor Patented June a 1945 N 1 g1 UNITED STATES PATENT .OFFICE 2,377,612 WRENCH George H. Clark, Yakima, Wash. Application August 19, 1943, Serial No. 499,276
1 Claim.
cannot slip when actuated.
Other objects and advantages of the inventionV will become apparent to the reader of the following description.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevational View of the wrench y with the appliance in operative position.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary side elevational view with the appliance in operated position.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 ofFigure 1. I
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that, the conventional Stillson Wrench consists of an` elongated shank or handle 5 having a stationary jaw 6 at one end andon to this jawis a holf low body or sleeve 1 fulcrumed as at 8, `this sleeve 'I containing an adjusting nut 9 through which the toothed shank I0 of an outerjaw, II is disposed.
In carrying out the present invention, an elongated lever` I2 preferably of sheet metal and channeled to overlap the handle 5` as shown in Figure 2, has a pair of handle overlapping ears I3 at one end, and at this end the lever I2 is pivoted as at I4 mythe handie 5.` The ears Is have pivoted links I5 extending therefrom to` connect to the side anges a of a pivotal pusher I6, the same being pivotallysecured as at I'I to the sleeve i i `It can now` be seen, that when the lever I2 is pushed against the handle 5, the pusher IS will operate against the toothed shank I Il `and cause arocking of the sleeve l `and outer jaw II with the result that a pipe work will be grippedrmly.
.While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, itis to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be restorted to without dey parting from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter. I
Having described the I invention, what is claimedas new is:
A wrench comprising a'. handle having a jaw at one end, an outer jaw having a toothed shank,
a rockable collar on` the handle, a nut carried by the collar and through which the toothed `shank. is disposed, anda device on the handle` adapted to operate against the shank to cause alink operating connection'between ,the lever and the pusher. I
