Each eccentric I4 is mounted on a pin I5, the two pins I being coaxially arranged in the block 5. Each eccentric I4 is also attached to one end of an operating handle I6 and as shown on the drawing, the arrangement may be such that each operating handle I6 is horizontal (or nearly so) when the vertical distance between the fulcrum pin I5 and the lower periphery of the eccentric I4 attains its minimum and 'maximum respectively, so that, by swinging the handle I6 through 180 degrees or thereabouts, the eccentric I4 will raise the block 5 above the bolster II by an amount equal to the eccentric throw. The handles I6 preferably normally extend in opposite directions as shown, so that by turning one handle in the clockwise direction and simultaneously turning the other handle in the anti-clockwise direction, both eccentrics I4 vwill be rotated in the required direction to raise the block 5 with the fence post l clampedthere- It-will be apparent that the block 5 and the peripheries of the eccentrics I4 may bear directly' upon the top of the foundation 9, but in order to restrict fracture of the foundation 9, it is-preferred to interpose a bolster IIwhich has a central aperture I8. A centering washer I9 is fitted in the upper part of the aperture Ill'y the washer I9 being apertured to ilt over the fence post 1. Recessed into the lower partof the bolster II is a hardened ring 20 having a circular projecting knife-edge 2| which is forced into the top of the foundation 9 by the downward pressure on the bolster I'I when thehandles I6' are operated to raise the block 5.
Inorder to enable the positions of theA handles I6' with respect to the eccentrics I4" to be adjusted to suit Ivarying conditions of working, particularly in conned places where it is not possible for the handles to extend out in opposite directions in a horizontal position, the. handles I6 are detachably and adjustably secured to the eccentrics I4. As shown, each eccentric has a central projecting pin 22 adapted to t a corresponding hole in the attened end portion I6a of the handle I6, which is provided with a laterally projecting stud 23 which can be entered in any one of a number of holes 24 in the eccentric I4. When the hole in the end portion of the handle I6 has been engaged with the central pin 22 and the stud 23 has been engaged in one of the holes 24, the handle IIi` can be secured in that position by a screw 25 driven into one of a series of screw holes 26 in the eccentric I5.
I claim:
1. An extracting tool comprising a block having a vertical central aperture therethrough and transverse slots in two opposite sides, a pair of serrated' clamping jaws eccentrically pivoted in said slots, a handle attached to each of said jaws, a pair of cam discs eccentrically pivoted on pivot pins on the outside of said block at the two sidesnot occupied by saidl jaws, a handle attached to eachv of said cam discs for rotating it about its pivot, means detachably securing each cam disc to its handle, and'means for varying the angular setting of each'cam disc with respect to' its handle.
2. An extracting tool comprising a block having a vertical central'aperture therethrough and transverse slots in opposite sides, a pair nof serrated clamping jaws eccentrically pivoted in saidl slots, a handle attached to each of said jaws, a
