My invention relates to garments, and-particularly to play suits for woman s sportswearn It is among the objects of my invention to provide a garment of the general type of a onepiece play suit, whichis conformable over a wide range of sizes to the figure of the wearer, both with respect to waist size and crotch length.

Another object of my invention is to provide a play garment-of unitary construction which may be easily put on and removed and may be worn with comfort and convenience.

My invention possesses other objects and fea tures of value, some of which with the foregoing will be set forth in the following description of the invention. It is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the showing made by the said description and the drawing as I may adopt variant forms of the invention within the scope of the appended claims.

Referring to the drawing:

Figure 1 is a front view of the garment of my invention with the discontinuous front portion of the pants swung to one side to illustrate its construction.

Interms of broad inclusion, the garment of my invention comprises blouse and pants portions, the pants portion being continuous with the blouse at the back and separate therefrom at the front. One leg of the pants portion is severable along the outer side thereof; and a belt is carried by the pants portion to overlie the lower front portion of the blouse and fasten at the back of the waist, for holding the pants in desired adjustment with respect to the waist and crotch of. the wearer. In terms of greater detail, my garment comprises a blouse portion 1 and pants portion 2.

The pants portion 2 is continuous with the blouse at the back, being connected by the seam 3, Figure 2; and is discontinuous with the blouse at the front, as shown in Figure 1.

The continuous back portions of the blouse and pants may be formed from an integral piece of fabric, or the portions may be stitched or otherwise secured one to the other to produce a unitary structure.

The pants portion is preferably of the type commonly referred to as shorts; and comprises a pair of legs 4 joined along a crotch seam 5. One of the legs is preferably formed of front and back panels separated along the outer side. The-edges of the panels may be fastened to close the leg by suitable fastening means, such as coto that which ore-v1) 4 operating buttons 6 and button holes 1. The separable leg panels facilitate the fitting of the garment to the waist of the wearer and at the same time permit the leg to be opened for the 1 convenience of the wearer, and to facilitate putting on and removing the garment. I A belt 8 is carried by the pants portion along the upper edge of the part which is separate from the blouse I. The belt is arranged to extend around the waist of the wearer, and to be fastened at the back. Fastening means 9 of any suitable kind, such as buttons, may be provided for securing the belt ends.

The blouse I may be of any desired style and trim, but one buttoning down the front is preferred. The front panels of the blouse are made rather full and extend downwardl below the waist line sufficiently to permit the ends l2 to be tucked inside the top of the pants. The belt overlies the tucked in ends of the blouse front and holds them in place. Because of fullness in cut, a given size of blouse automatically adjusts itself over the fiat chested or full bosom figure within a wide range of sizes.

The blouse and pants portions are preferably made continuous along substantially half the circumference of the waist, at the back. This continuity provides a unitary structure similar has characterized the one-piece play suit as heretofore made. At the same time discontinuity of pants and blouse across the front of the garment obviates disadvantages and objectionable features of the one-piece play suit which have seriously limited the general utility and acceptability of that type of garment.

For example, the waist size of the ordinary onepiece play suit is subject to relatively little adjustment; and the crotch length is subject to substantially no adjustment at all. As a consequence, a garment selected with respect to waist size may or may not have suitable crotch length; Such garments have been made for more or less average types of figures; and as a result, women having unusually long waists, or large busts or who are either exceptionally tall or short, have found it difficult to be fitted with a ready-made garment.

In the garment of my present invention a given size is fully adjustable over wide variations in figure to provide a satisfying and attractive fit,

where such result has not heretofore been secured in a ready-made garment without a multiplicity of sizes.

I claim:

1. A garment comprising blouse and pants portidns, the back of the pants being continuous with the back of the blouse, the entire front of the pants being separate from and overlapping the front of the blouse, the pants being severable along one of the legs thereof to open the leg, the

separate Part of the pants being carried by a belt,

and means for securing the belt en selected from sthe back and sides.

2. A garment comprising blouse and pants portions, the back of the pants being continuous with s. at a point the entire front of the pants being separate from and overlapping the front ofitheblous'e, and the pants being severable alongone'ofwtherlegs =thereof to open the leg.
