This invention relates generally to improvements in mechanical pencils or pencil and pen combinations and more particularly to a cap for such implements in which magazine means for holding spare leads are provided such as that described in my ccpending application, Serial Number 463,480.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a practical and emcient cap for a mechanical pencil or pencil-pen combination wherein there is incorporated a spare-lead magazine, eraser holder, eraser, and cover for the eraser.

A further object of the present invention is to provide in a cap for a mechanical pencil or pencil-pen combination, a novel eraser holder and cover therefor which may be conveniently and easily assembled with relation to the outer shell of the cap.

A still further object of the present invention is to provide in a cap of the aforementioned kind means whereby the erase: cover may be easily separated from the cap proper or the eraser holder without disturbing the latter.

Further objects and advantages or the invention will appear from the following disclosure thereof together with the attached drawing which illustrates certain forms of embodiment thereof, and in which: a

Referring now more particularly to the drawing, there is disclosed a pen-pencil combination id comprising the pencil end l2, the pen end it and the cap generally indicated by .the numeral i i, the latter being made of any suitable and desirable material.

An eraser 22 is provided with a holder 28 comprising a plurality'of upturned arms 25, each having a spring prong 25 for facilitating the retention of the eraser holder within shell 20. The eraser 22 is preferably provided with a protruding ring-like member 27 to facilitate gripping by the fingers of a hand of a person for withdrawing and replacing the same.

Resting against a shoulder 30 in shell 56 is a magazine member 38, the latter being specifically illustrated in Figs. 2 to 4. Magazine or cartridge ti has a lower shoulder portion 32 from which extend vertically a plurality of fan-shaped ribs or fins 33 providing spaces 38 therebetween for accommodating a number of refill leads. The center of the shoulder portion 32 is provided with an opening 35 through which the front portion of the pen 36 passes when the cap id is secured in its place upon body ill. The upper part of the magazine member it is curved or dome-shaped as at 31 to facilitate the reloading of leads into the storage spaces 28.

In the modification illustrated in Fig. 5, the bottom of eraser 22a may be encased in a shell or holder dll having an enlarged ridge-like portion il similar in function to the ring-like member 2i, previously described. In a mechanical pencil device having a body, a cap for said body, said cap comprising an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve engaging said outer sleeve, said inner sleeve being provided with springable projections, an eraser, a holder for said eraser, said holder having upturned arms, said arms being provided with springable members engageable with said inner sleeve for facilitating support of said holder relative to said inner sleeve, a cap for said eraser and engageable with said projections for securing said cap relative to said outer sleeve,

' a magazine having a base and a body, said body having partitions providing chambers for storin spare leads, said outer sleeve having an internal shoulder, said base being seatable on said shoulders; and means engageable with said outer sleeve and said device body for removably securing said cap thereto.

In a mechanical pencil device, a cap comprising an outer sleeve, an eraser holder, a cover -for said holder, springably engaging means for maintaining said cover on said outer sleeve, said holder having upturned arms, said arms being provided with springable members engageable with said sleeve for facilitating support of said holder relative to said sleeve, and a magazine having a base and a body, said body being substantially dome-shaped and having partitions providing chambers for storing spare leads, said sleeve having an internal shoulder, said base being seatable on said shoulder.

8. In a mechanical pencil device, a cap comprising an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve engaging said outer sleeve, said inner sleeve being provided with springable projections, an eraser holder engageable with said inner sleeve for facilitating support of said holder relative to said inner sleeve,

and a cap engageable with said projections for securing said cap relative to said outer sleeve.

In a mechanical pencil device, a cap comprising an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve engaging said outer sleeve, said inner sleeve being provided with springable projections, an eraser holder engageable with said inner sleeve for facilitating support of said holder relative to said inner sleeve, a cap engageable with said projections for securing said cap relative to said outer sleeve, and a magazine having a base and a body, said body being substantially dome-shaped and having partitions providing chambers for storing spare leads.

In a mechanical pencil device, a cap comprising an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve engaging said outer sleeve, said inner sleeve being provided with springable projections, an eraser holder engageable with said inner sleeve for facilitating support of said holder relative to said inner sleeve, a cap engageable with said projections for securing said cap relative to said outer sleeve, and a magazine having a base and a body, said body being substantially dome-shaped and having partitions providing chambers for storing spare leads, said outer sleeve having an internal shoulder, said base being seatable on said shoulder.

In a mechanical pencil device having a body, a cap for said body, said cap comprising an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve engaging said outer sleeve, said inner sleeve being provided with springable projections, an eraser, a holder for said eraser, said holder having upturned arms, said arms being provided with springable members engageable with said inner sleeve for iacilltating support of said holder relative to said inner sleeve, a, cap for said eraser and engageable with said projections for securing said cap relative to said outer sleeve, and a magazine having a base and abody, said body having longitudinally 13.
