3 Claims. (Cl. 132-80) This invention relates to portable receptacles for toilet articles, and more particularly to a kit for shaving utensils.

The main object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved shaving kit which is simple in construction, which is compact in size, and which contains all the necessary utensils required for shaving.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved portable shaving kit which is inexpensive to manufacture, which is durable in construction, which is easy to take apart, and which contains all the necessary utensils for shaving and which is arranged so that said utensils may be easily removed for use Whenever required.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and claims, and from the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a perspective view, partly broken away, of an improved shaving kit constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 2 is an enlarged longitudinal cross sectional view taken through the shaving kit on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a horizontal transverse cross sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a horizontal transverse cross sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 2.

Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the components of the shaving kit of Figures 1 to 5 in separated and detached positions.

Figure 6 is an enlarged cross sectional view taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 5.

Referring to the drawings, the shaving kit is designated generally at 11 and comprises a generally cylindrical central housing segment 12 which is formed with an intermediate transverse partition wall 13 defining a first compartment 14 on the lower side thereof, as viewed in Figure 2, and a second compartment 15 on the upper side thereof.

Secured in the bottom compartment 14 is a generally circular filler block 16, said filler block being formed with a rectangular aperture 17 shaped to receive a stack of razor blades 18 therein, as shown in Figure 2. The block 16 is formed with the diametrically opposed inwardly projecting

Secured in the upper compartment 15' is a generally circular filler block 26 which is formed with a central recess 27 shaped to receive the head 28 of a razor in the manner illustrated in Figure 2. Thus, the recess 27 is generally rectangular in plan and is suitably formed to interfit with the contours of the head 28 of a razor, whereby the head will be engaged in the recess 27 in close interfitting relationship therewith.

The closure plate 3 1 is formed with a central aperture 33 adapted to receive the shank of the razor when-the razor is in the position illustrated in Figure 2, namely, when the head 28 of the razor is engaged in the recess 27 of block member 26. To facilitate rotation of the plate member 31, said plate member is formed with the radial grasping ribs 36 which are spaced at equal angles around the aperture 33, as is clearly shown in Figure 5.

The shank of the razor comprises the inner shank section 37, which is attached to the razor head 28-, and the outer shank section 38 which telescopically engages on the inner shank section 37, as shown in Figure 6. At other times, the outer shank section 38 may be telescoped over the inner shank section 37, tominimize the length of the shank of the razor. Thus, by pressing the detent element 39 inwardly, the outer shank section 38 may be pushed to fully telescoped position on the inner shank section 37, thus reducing the shank of the razor to its minimum length. A shaving brush 42 is provided with a handle 43 formed with an axial bore 44 of sufficient diameter and length to receive the shank of the razor when said shank is in its fully telescoped position, as illustrated in Figure 2.' Thus, the handle 43 may be engaged on the collapsed razor shank in the manner illustrated in Figure 2, whereby said handle may be telescoped over the razor shank. The end of the handle 43 is formed with radial grooves 45 adapted to receive the radial ribs 36 of the closure plate 31 in the manner illustrated in Figure 2.

Designated at 46 is a first generally cylindrical cap member which is threadedly engageable on the lower rim portion of the main housing section 12, the cap member 46 being formed with internal threads fitting external threads 48 formed on the lower end of the housing section '12. Cap member 46 contains a quantity of shaving soap 49.

As will be readily apparent from Figure 2, cap member 46 is of sufiicient size to contain a substantial supply of shaving soap 49. Therefore, when the cap member 46 is detached, namely, when the shaving kit is set up for use, the cap member serves as a shaving mug, with a self-contained supply of shaving soap.

Designated at 50 is a second generally cylindrical cap member which is threadedly engageable on the top rim portion of the main housing section 12, said top rim portion being formed with the external threads 51 which are interengageable with internal threads provided in the end of the cap member 50. The cap member 50 is of sufiicient length to completely cover the shaving brush 42 when the brush is in the position illustrated in Figure 2, the top wall of thecap member 50 being substantially in engagement with the bristles 53 of the brush, as shown in Figure 2.

The top wall of the cover member 50 comprises a circular mirror 54 which may be employed as a shaving mirror by supporting the cover 50 in a suitable position.

30, 30 whereby the razor may be removed from the filler block 26, and whereby the closure plate 31 may be thereafter removed from the shank of the razor. The shank is then extended to its operative position, namely, the position thereof illustrated in Figure 6. A razor blade may be obtained from the compartment 14 by rotating the closure plate 22 90 degrees from the position thereof shown in Figure 4, whereby the closure plate 22 may be detached from the filler block 16 in the manner above described, providing access to the blades 18 in the compartment 17.

While a specific embodiment of an improved shaving kit has been disclosed in the foregoing description, it will be understood that various modifications within the spirit of the invention may occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, it is intended that no limitations be placed on the invention except as defined by the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A shaving kit comprising a generally cylindrical housing member provided with an intermediate transverse partition wall defining a first compartment on one side thereof and a second compartment on the other side thereof, means in said first compartment formed and arranged to receive a stack of transversely disposed razor blades adjacent said transverse partition wall, means in said second compartment formed and arranged to transversely receive the head of a razor adjacent said transverse partition wall, a first closure plate removably engaged in said first compartment and being adapted to retain a stack of razor blades in said first-named means, a second closure plate removably engaged in said second compartment, said second closure plate having a central aperture, a razor having a head transversely engaged in said second compartment and received in said secondnamed means and a shank extending through said central aperture, whereby said head is retained in said secondnamed means, a shaving brush having a handle formed with an axial bore receiving said shank, a first cover cap removably secured on the rim of the housing member adjacent said first compartment and containing shaving soap, and a second cover cap engaged over said brush and removably secured on the rim of the housing member adjacent said second compartment.

2. A shaving kit comprising a generally cylindrical housing member provided with an intermediate transverse partition wall defining a first compartment on one side thereof and a second compartment on the other side thereof, a first filler block secured insaid first compartmerit adjacent said partition wall and being formed with a recess adapted to receive a stack of transversely arranged razor blades, a second filler block secured in said second compartment adjacent said partition wall and being formed with a recess adapted to receive the transversely disposed head of a razor, a first closure plate removably engaged in said first compartment over said first filler block, a second closure plate removably engaged in said second compartment over said second filler block, said second closure plate having a central aperture, a razor having a head engaged in the recess in said second filler block and a shank extending through said central aperture, a shaving brush having a handle formed with an axial bore receiving said shank, a first cover cap removably secured on the rim of the housing member adjacent said first compartment and containing shaving soap, and a second cover cap engaged over said brush and removably'secured on the rim of the housing member adjacent said second compartment.

3. A shaving kit comprising a generally cylindrical housing member provided with an intermediate trans verse partition wall defining a first compartment on one side thereof and a second compartment on the other side thereof, a first filler block secured in said first compartment adjacent said partition Wall and being formed with a recess adapted toreceive a stack of transversely arranged razor blades, a second filler block secured in said second compartment adjacent said partition wall and being formed with a recess adapted to receive the transversely disposed head of a razor, a first closure plate removably engaged in said first compartment over said first filler block, a second closure plate removably engaged in said second compartment over said second filler block, said second closure plate having a central aperture, a razor having a head engaged in the recess in said second filler block and a shank extending through said central aperture, said shank comprising a plurality of telescoping sections and releasable locking means constructed and arranged to at times secure said sections in extended positions'relative to each other, a shaving brush having a handle formed with an axial bore receiving said shank in the telescoped positions of its sections, a first cover cap threadedly engaging the rim of the housing member adjacent said first compartment and containing shaving soap, and a second cover cap engaged over said brush and threadedly engaging the rim of the housing member adjacent said second compartment.
