The pad I I comprises an inner crescent-shaped moisture absorbing body 22 and an outer cres- The two bodies 22 and 23 are secured together along their concave edges by meansgof stitching.
The pad ll when in applied position is disposed as shown in Figure 2 overboth of the bodies l2 and Band has the convex edgethereof projected slightly beyond the convex edges of the: holder 10 as shown more clearly in Figure 4.
Inorder to provide a means whereby the pad I I may be removably secured on the holder ID in such a manner as to permit slight movement of the pad I] with respect to the holder I0, I have provided a pair of clamping straps 25 which are secured in' spaced apart relation to the body l2 on the inner side thereof and I have also provided a second pair of straps 26 which are secured to a i the holder l3 on the outer side thereof. The strap 25 extends inwardly from the marginal1 edge of the body 12 being secured at its outer end beneath a the binding I8 and the inner or free end .of the strap 25 has'secured thereto one part 21 of a snap fastening means. i l
A complementary snap fastening part 28 is secured to the body l2 inwardly from the marginal edge thereof and the pad ll isformed with an openingjorslot 2 9 inwardly from its outer :convex marginal edge through which the. strap 25 is adapted to b extended. When the strap25 :is in a clamping position, thestrap will be as shownin Figure 2 with the body 22 of thepad ll .coveringthe two snap fastener e1ements21and .28. The strap 26 is adapted to be extended through i an opening 30 formedin the body 23 inwardly The two bodies l2 from the marginal edge thereof and the inner free end of the strap 23 has one part 3! of a snap fastener element secured thereto. A complementary part 32 of the snap fastener element is secured to the body l3 of the holder I!) in such a position that when the snap fastener elements 3| and .32 are in fastening position, these elements will be covered by the body 23 at a point inwardly from the Opening 30. There are two straps and also two straps 26 which are positioned as shown in Figure l.
A pair of clamping straps 33 and 34 are secured to the upper side of the connecting strip I4 adjacent the opposite ends thereof. The two straps 33 and 34 are of like construction and each strap is provided with a reverted outer end portion 35 which is secured to the connecting strip I 4 by the stitching l3 and I1. are extended through the openings 33 which are formed in the pad II along the connecting conthe garment of the wearer by means of safety pins or the like, and in order to provide means whereby the shield will not be torn, I have provided grommets 33 and 40 which are secured to the body members 12 and I3 adjacent the convex edges thereof and substantially midway between the junction betweenthe concave and convex edges of these bodies. I have also provided a second pair of grommets 4| and 42 which are se- The straps 33 and 34 7 cured to the connecting strip 14 adjacent the opposite ends thereof. The grommets ll and 42 are extended through the folded or reverted portions of the straps 33 and 34, as shown more clearly in Figure 3, and provide an additional securing means for the upper clamping straps 33 and The grommets 33 and are adapted to be covered by the outer or lower portions of the pad members 22 and 23, as shown more clearly in Figure 4 so that the metal forming the grommets 39 and 43 will not come into direct contact with the body or arm or any portion of the garment.
, In the use of this shield, the pad H may be initially clamped or attached to the holder ill by threading the clamping straps 25 and 23 through the openings 23 and 30, respectively, and also threading the straps 33 and 34 through the openings 33 in the pad H. The shield may then be secured within the garment in the usual position, that is, in'the armpit of the garment, safety pins or other fastening means being extended through the grommets 39, 40, M and 42. While the shield is being worn, the pad I I may have relative movement with respect to the holder ill by reason of the engagement of the. securing straps through the openings in the pad. These openings provide a slipping connection between the pad and the What I claim is: A 1.
