ROCKER Filed Aug. 27, 194s 2 sheets-sheet 2 I l l I Patented Nov. 14, 1944 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ROCKER John Damsted, 4Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Application August 27, 1943, Serial No. 500,261
1 Claim. (Cl. 155-69) that will accommodate one lor more children or adults and that is safe and easily moved from place to place.
Another object of the invention is to devise` and construct a rocker having a plurality of seats to accommodate several people and may be provided with side doors to permit older people to get into the structure.
With these and other objects in view that may appear while the description proceeds the invention consists in the' novel construction and arrangements of parts as hereinafter more specifically set forth, claimed and shown in the accompanying drawings forming part of this application and` in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of vthe structure.
Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation of the device.
Fig. 4 is a sectional elevationshowing a modication of the construction.
Fig. 5 is an end elevation.
Fig. 6 is a cross sectional. elevation.
Fig. 'I is a side elevation showing a modification having doors constructed in the side thereof.
Referring more in detail to the drawings in which similar reference'characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several' views it will be seen the invention consists of two side frame members I0, the lower edges of which are curved to form rockers II. End members I2, are attached thereto form a rectangular frame structure.
End seats I3, and I4, and a central seat I5, with a back rest I6, are provided and attached to the side frame members I0. Foot boards I1, are also attached to the said side frame members. The seats and foot boards may be also supported on cleats I8, attached to the side members.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4, foot guard boards I9, are provided to prevent childrens feet or legs being extended through the spaces and getting under the rockers thereby providing safety means.
In Fig. 7, one side frame member I0, is provided with doors 20, mounted on hinges 2l, and having lock handles 22, by means of which the doors are secured in the closed position. From the foregoing it will be seen I have provided an amusement device made valmost entirely of `wood and Vone that is inexpensive and simple to construct.`
It is believed that the construction and advantages of the device may be apparent from the foregoing paragraphs taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings without further detailed description.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed it is understood that minor changes in the detail of construction and arrangement of cooperatingv parts may beresorted to within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
A rocker comprising a rectangular frame composed of spaced parallel side members and end members, said` side members having their lower edges curved longitudinally forming rockers, end
seats extending transversely of the frame adjacent the upper edges of the side members, the end members extending upwardly to form back rests for the end seats, an intermediate seat extending transversely of the frame on a horizontal plane lower than the plane of the end seats, a back rest for the intermediate seat, foot boards between the end and intermediate seats below the horizontal planes of said seats, risers between the fooi-l boards and seats, and doors in one of the side members of the frame to permit access to the seats.
