More specifically, the invention proposes to characterize the new dispenser by a container having a top wall and side walls formed witha pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides. It is proposed to arrange a roll of tape within said container so as to have a web portion extending from the bottom of the rollupwards and through one of said slots. It is proposed to stack a group of labels beneath the "top Wall of said container and to support them upon a frame having its top face level with the second of said slots.

A novel arrangement is proposed whereby the web portion of said tape may be pulled out and torn off in desired lengths and wherebydurin'g this operation it is possible to partially project, one of said labels which may then be pulled but and used upon a package sealed with said tape.

The invention contemplatesa novel arrangement for partially ejecting one of said labelsc'o'ntrolled by the manipulation of said tape.

Another object of the invention resides in the construction of a tape and label dispenser 'a'd'apted to dispense a web of a tape and individual labels or labels in a roll or in accordion fashion.

For further comprehension of the invention, and or the objects and advantages thereof, refere'nce will be had 'to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the append ed claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

These leaf springs may be formed integrally with the plate 21.

The roll of tape 26 is associated with lifting means by Which its top may be engaged through the opening 24 of the frame wall 23 against the bottom one of said stack of labels 22. This lifting means includes a pair of side arms 30 having their bottom ends releasably connected with a shaft 32 which passes through and supports the roll of tape 26. Said side arms 36 extend upwards through openings 34 in the flanges 26 and top wall H.

An arm 35 connects the top ends of the side arms 39 together. This top arm 35 is provided with an upwardly directed offset portion 36 which acts as a gripping portion by which the side arms 36 may indirectly be lifted.

The operation of the device is as follows:

A feature of this form of the invention resides in the fact that any length of tape may be drawn from the roll 5| merely by pulling the extended end 5|. Similarly, one or more labels may be removed from the container merely by pulling the extended end 49. The label, or labels, and the strip of tape may be torn off, as desired.

In Fig. 11 still another form of the invention I is shown. The container 55 is provided with a top or cover wall 56, a front wall 51, and a back wall 58. The front wall 51 has a horizontal slot The web of tape 2| may be pulled out to any length desired, and torn off and used for sealing, packages. When it is desired to partially eject; one of the labels 22 it is merely necessary to grip the handle portion 36 and lift same upwards relative to the wall I Preferably, the wall ll must be held down with the fingers. The top of the roll of tape 26 will engage against the bottom label 22 and as the web 2| is drawn out slightly the bottom one vof the labels 22 will be partially ejected through the slot l5, as indicated by the dot and dash lines 22'. This label may be completely removed by gripping the projected end and pulling same out.

The top wall may be pivoted open to the position indicated by the dot and dash lines II in Fig. 2. Since the frame wall 23 is mounted on the top wall H, the frame wall 23 will now be located outside of the container ID, as indicated by the dot and dash lines 23'. The flap I6 is shown in its new position by the dot and dash lines l6. In this position of the top wall it is possible to replenish labels against the frame wall 23 and within the pocket for'the labels by slipping them in through the open end of the pocket. In. Figs. -7.to 10 another form of tape and label dispenserhas been shown embodying the features of this invention. This dispenser includes acontainer 4lllpreferably constructed of cardboard or similar inexpensive material and having a" top or cover wall 4|, a front wall 42, a back wall 43, and side walls 44. The front wall 42 is formed with a horizontal slot 45 through which a web of tape may be dispensed. The back wall 43 is formed with a horizontal slot 46 through which labels may be dispensed.

' The side walls 44 are formed with inwardly directed flanges 41 disposed a short way downwards from the top of the container and having shelf-like edge portions 48. 49 is rested upon thes shelves like edge portions 48. Said labels 49 are shown connected together in a strip and folded in accordion fashion (see Fig. 10.) e The top wall 4| has several'downwardly directed prongs 59 stamped from the material thereof and engaging against the top w ofthe stack of labels 49 for holding them down upon the shelf-like edge portions 48.

, The end portion 49' of the strip of labels 49 projects through the horizontal slot 46. A roll of tape 5| is disposed within the container 46 and has its end portion 5| extended upwards and out of the slot 45. This roll of tape 5| may be placed inthe container by first pulling out theflanges '41. These flanges 41 are bent back into position after the roll of tape 5| is located within the container. The top wall 4| is formed with a 59 through which the end portion 60' of a roll of tape 69 projects. The top portions of the front and back walls (51 and 58) are formed with inwardly directed flanges 6| and 62. These flanges 6| and 62 have shelf-

like edge portions

63 and 64 and is disposed in the compass beneath the top or cover wall 56 and the flanges 6| and 62. This roll of labels 65 has its end portion 65' projecting from a slot 66 formed in the back wall 58. The bottom wall of the container 55 is provided with an opening 61 through which ones finger may be extended to lift the roll 69 to engage it against the bottom of the label roll 65 so that the projecting end portion 65 of the label roll 65 may be automatically projected merely by pulling the projecting end portion 66' of the tape roll 60. It should be noted that rotations of the tape roll 69 will be transmitted to the label roll 65 to project the label web 65, as stated.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. A tape and label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and side walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides, a roll of tape within said container and having a web portion extending from the bottom of the roll up and through one of said slots, a stack of labels mounted beneath said top wall and supported on a frame wall having its top face level with the second of said slots, resilient means for urging said labels downwards on said frame wall,

' and means for-lifting said roll of tape for en- A stack of labels gaging its top through said frame wall and against the bottom label of said stack of labels, whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label said bottom label will be partially projected through said second slot.

2. A tape and label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and side walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on-opposite sides, 'a roll of tape within said container and having a web portion extending from the bottom of the roll up and, through one of said slots, a stack of labels mounted beneath said top wall and supported on "a frame wall having its topface level with the second of said slots, resilient means for 'urging said labels downwards on said frame wall, and means i'or lifting said roll of tape' -for engaging its top through said frame wall and against the bottom label of said stack of labels,

, whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label said bottom label will be partially projected through said second slot, said container being in the nature of a cardboard box.

3. A tape and label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and side walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides,

whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label said bottom label will be partiallyprojected through said second slot, said top wall being in the nature of an openable top: cover for the container.

4. A tape and label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and'side walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides, a roll of tape within said container and having a web portion extending from the bottom of the roll up and through one of said slots, a stack of labels mounted beneath said top wall and supported on a frame wall'having its top face level with the second of said slots, resilient means for urging said labels downwards on said frame wall, and means for lifting said roll of tape for engaging its top through said frame wall and against the bottom label of said stack of labels, whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label said bottom label will be partially projected through said second slot, said resilient means comprising a rigid plate and leaf springs urging the plate downwards.

5. A tape and label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and side Walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides,

a roll of tape within said container and having a web portion extending from the bottom of the roll up and through one of said slots, a stack of labels mounted beneath said top wall and supported on a frame wall having its top face level with the second of said slots, resilient means for urging said labels downwards on said frame wall, and means for lifting said roll of tape for engaging its top through said frame wall and against the bottom label of said stack of labels, whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label said bottom label will be partially projected through said second slot, said lifting means including side arms releasably connected with a shaft extended through the center of said roll of tape, said side arms extending through slots in said top wall, a top arm connecting said side arms by which the side arms may be lifted.

6. A tape end label dispenser, comprising a container having a top wall and side walls formed with a pair of horizontal slots on opposite sides, a roll of tape within said container and having a web portion extending from the bottom of the r roll up and through one of said slots, a stack of labels mounted beneath said top wall and supported on a frame wall having its top face level with the second of said slots, resilient means for urging said labels downwards on said frame wall, and means for lifting said roll of tape for engaging its top through said frame Wall and against the bottom label of said stack of labels, whereby when said web is pulling and said top of the roll engages the bottom label saidbottom label will be partially projected through said second slot, said lifting means including side arms releasably connected with a shaft extended through the center of said roll of tape, said side arms extending through slots in said top wall, a top arm connecting said side arms by which the side arms may be lifted, said top arm having an offset portion acting as a handle by which it may be conveniently gripped.
