UNITED STATES PATENT @EEICE.
WVELLING'ION P. DOLLOFF, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNOR TO P. AND A. LINTON, OF SAME PLACE.
BRACELET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 234,858, dated November 30, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WELLINGTON P. DoL- LOFF, of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented an Improvement in Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention consists in an improvement in the mode of securing the outer band to the inner band of the bracelet.
Figure 1 represents a side view of the bracelet. Fig. 2 shows an edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 represents a side and end view of my improved bracelet-joint. Fig. 5 represents a strip of stock, of indefinite length, properly formed for making the joint. Fig. 6 is a side and end view of thejoint as made heretofore. Fig. 7 is a perspective View, showing one-half of the joint as heretofore constructed.
In the drawings, A represents the inner band of the bracelet, havingits edges to a turned outward to form flanges, as shown in Fig. 3. The outer band, B, is also provided with the inwardly-turned flanges b b, and is made to: fit closely within the flanges a a, as
Application filed June 9, 1880. (No model.)
shown; and the inner flanges, I) Z), being made narrower than the exterior flanges, a a, allows the band B to drop below the outer edge of the flanges a a, so that by slightly knnrling their edges the band B will be properly held in place without the employment of solder, except at its ends, the flanges b b sewing to support and hold it at the required distance from the band A.
I am aware that the combination, in a bracelet, of an inner band provided with outwardlytnrned flanges with an outer band provided with inwardly-tnrned flanges is shown in the patent of J. N. Thompson, No. 169,929. I therefore make no claim to that combination.
I claim as my invention In a bracelet, the inner band, A, provided with the outwardly-turned flanges a a, knurled upon their outer edges, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
VELLINGTON I. DOLLOFF.
