1 Claim.
This invention relates to containers or packs for cigarettes, calling cards or the like.
Particularlyin carrying cigarettes it is desir able to provide a pack which will retain at least twenty cigarettes and maintain them in a persons pocket without crushing. In cases where the container has been made of leather or a soft flexible material it has been impossible to maintain the cigarettes against crushing. However with this invention I have provided a very simple neat and compact container in which a pair of pockets are provided, the construction being such that a pair of walls are formed adjacent each other which provide sufiicient support for maintaining the two rows of cigarettes against crushing.
Another object is to provide a container or pack which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, attractive in appearance and which though formed of a flexible material has sufiicient body to maintain cigarettes so that same are not crushed when carried.
In the drawing:
Fig 1 is a perspective view'of my container showing same in closed position.
Fig. 2 is a view of the container showing same in the process of assembly.
Fig. 3 is a view of the container with the flap in open position, and
Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
The pack or container is formed from a single piece of material l such as leather or the like. It is folded longitudinally as at l I and I2 to form a pair of inside sections l3 and I4 and an outside section I5. The edge Ma of the section l4 overlaps the edge I301. of the section I3 and is glued thereto to form a continuous pocket generally indicated at l6.
A strip or band I! is secured by staples l3 and The pack is transversely folded as at 19, dividing the inside sections so that they are positioned adjacent each other and the continuous pocket thereby forming a pair of pockets 20 and 2|. These pockets are held adjacent each other by means of a strip 22 which is glued as at 23 to the interiors of the inside sections as shown in Fig. 4. A closure flap 24 is formed as a continuation of the outside section I5 and is adapted to close the openings to the pockets and to be retained in closed position by insertion through the band H.
The pack or container can be used for supporting cigarettes or calling cards or the like and it will be particularly noted that the inside section when folded provides a pair of walls between the pockets, these walls serve to give suflicient body to the flexible material so that cigarettes contained within the pockets will not be crushed.
While I have shown the construction of a size particularly adapted for supporting cigarettes it is understood that the same construction can be used for holding calling cards by reducing the width of the container and that the pair of pockets permit different cards to be kept separated if desired. It will be understood that various changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A container formed of a single sheet of material bent and folded so that the side longitudinal edges overlap and are permanently secured together to form a continuous pocket, the said pocket being transversely folded with the opposite entrances of said pocket adjacent each other to form a plurality of pockets, the top portions of the inner sides of the pockets adjacent the overlapped edges being recessed, a strip extending over the recessed portions for securing said pockets adjacent each other, a flap for closing said pockets, and a band secured to the inner side and extending around one of the pockets into which said flap i inserted.
FRED GINSBERG.
