SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 234,402, dated November 16, 1880,
Application filed April 26, 1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN WILLIAM GROWS, a citizen of the United States, residing in the cit57 of Brooklyn, Long Island, Kings county, State of New York, have invented a new, useful, and Improved Cover for Sink-Outlets, of which the following is a specification.
Figure l shows a section of a sink and a vertical section of the cover as applied thereto. Fig. 2 shows the upper side of cover.
The object of this invention is to prevent the entrance of sewer-gas into houses through the waste-pipe of sinks.
This invention consists of a circular metal disk, A, the exterior upper surface of which is pyramidal in shape, with the apex iattened or squared,and the inner surface of which is couical, having an orifice, B, through its center, a circular packing of leather, O, held in position against inner surface of disk A by a circular metal plate, D, and bolt E, passing through center of metal plate D and leather packing C, and orifice B, secured by washer F and nut G. A handle, H, of bent wire of irregular shape is attached to upper surface of z 5 disk A.
The cover is to be placed in the sink over the outlet, and to be removed only to allow the water to run off.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 3o as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A sink-trap cover consisting of disk A, orifice B, leather packing C, metal plate D, bolt E, washer F, nut G, and handle H, all com- 35 bined, substantially for the use as herein shown and described.
