WATCH-KEY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 231,681, dated August 31, 1880.
Application led February 24, 1880.
To all 'whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE P. REED, of Melrose, county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain useful Improvements in Vatch-Keys, of which the following is a specification.
The drawings accompanying this specification represent, in Figure l, a sectional elevation ot' a watch-key containing my invention 5 Fig. 2, a section of eyelet; Fig. 3, a section ot' the upper part of key-shank.
My invention relates tothe peculiar construction ot' the swivel carrying the pendent ring by which the key is suspended, by which I provide astrong, eective, and neat connection between the ringl and body of the key, and one made at very small cost.
In the above-named drawings the body ot' the key is shown at A, its tubular windingstem or barrel at B, and its pendent ring at O.
In carrying my invention into practice I create in the end ot` the body A a shallow pocket or recess, (and in this recess I deposit the lower end of the swivel-head, which is shown at b, such head having an outstanding annular ange or lip, c, which loosely ills the recess. I claim- A swivel for watch-keys, composed of a cylindrical head carrying a pendent ring, and having an annular lip to extend into a pocket in the 4end of the key-body, the wall of the pocket being turned or rubbed down about the lip, and the wholebeing substantially as and for purposes stated.
