2 Claims.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in dancing toys, and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a novelty of this character comprising.,,a unique construction and arrangement for supporting an animated figure in position with a vibrating actuating stage or platform therebeneath.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a dancing toy of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, attractive in appearance, highly amusing, and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like charcaters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a dancing toy constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view in front elevation of the device.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the forward portion of the toy.
Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view, taken substantially on the line 4--4 of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises an elongated base I, which base may be of wood or any other suitable material. Rising from the rear end portion of the base I is a post 2. The post 2 is provided, on its lower end portion, with an integral, forwardly projecting foot 3 which rests on the base I.
Mounted on the foot 3 and projecting forwardly therefrom in spaced relation above .the base I is a. resilient arm 4. Formed integrally with the forward end of the resilient arm 4 is a vibrating platform 5. Screws 6 firmly secure the arm 4 in position on the foot 3, said screws passing through said foot into the base I for securing the post 2 on said base.
Mounted horizontally on the upper end of the post 2 is a rod I which extends forwardly above the arm 4. A looped metallic strap 8 firmly secures the-rod 1 in position on the post 2. Anchored in the forward end portion of the rod 1 and projecting longitudinally therefrom is a metallic shank 9. A forwardly projecting yoke i 01 metal is secured in position on the shank 9 between nuts II which are threaded on said shank.
A figure I2 is pivotally suspended in the yoke III for swinging movement in a vertical plane. The figure I 2 includes loosely jointed arms and legs I3 and [4, respectively, the feet l5 of the latter being engageable with the vibrating platon a suitable support and the platform 5 is vibrated by brushing a finger or thumb over an edge thereof. Thus, the loosely jointed, pivotally mounted figure i2 is caused to appear to dance on the platform 5. By loosening the nuts II, also the securing screws iii of the strap 8, the dancing figure I! may be conveniently adjusted as desired relative to the vibrating platform 5.
It is believed that the many advantages of a dancing toy constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. A dancing toy comprising a base, a post rising from said base, said post including a forwardly projecting foot on its lower end portion resting on the base, an arm mounted on the foot, screws passing" through the arm and foot for securing the post on the base and for securing said arm on said foot in elevated position above the base, a rod mounted horizontally on the post, a dancing figure mounted on said rod, and a vibrating platform on the arm beneath the figure and operatively engageable therewith for actuating same.
2. A dancing toy of the character described comprising an elongated base, a post rising from one end portion of the base, said post including an integral foot on its lower end portion resting on the base, a resilient arm having one end portion engaged on the foot, screws passing through the arm and the foot into the base for securing the post in position on said base and for securing said arm on the foot in elevated position above the base, a horizontal rod traversing the upper end of the post, a looped metallic strap extending transversely across the rod for securing said rod on said post, a metallic shank anchored in one end portion of the rod and projecting longitudinally therefrom, a yoke mounted on said shank, nuts threaded on the shank and engaged with opposite sides of the yoke for securing said yoke in position on said shank, a dancing figure pivotally suspended in the yoke, and a vibrating platform on the arm beneath the figure and operatively engageable therewith JOSEPH a. vmcr.
' for actuating same.
