This invention relates to a garment designed primarily for mens wear, but more particularly to a sport shirt.

The invention aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a garment of the class referred to whereby the sleeves are prevented from tearing off at the shoulders when the wearer stoops over.

The invention further aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a shirt including a pair of oppositely disposed front sections and a foldable back section having spaced edge portions connected together and spaced upper edge portions secured to the upper portion of the outer side edges of the front sections to provide the shoulders and sleeves of the shirt.

The invention further aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a shirt including combined shoulders and sleeves forming portions each having a one point connection with the upper part of one side of the front of the shirt body and with the shoulders being free of seams.

The invention further aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a shirt including a front section, a back section having sleeves integral therewith and with portions of the back section extended upon the front of the shirt and connected to the front section whereby, when the wearer stoops over for any reason the sleeves will not split from or tear away from the back section.

The invention further aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a shirt whereby the tearing from or the splitting of the sleeves with respect to the body of the garment, will be reduced to a minimum, when the wearer is playing golf or exercising in a manner which requires stooping and swinging.

The invention further aims to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a sport shirt which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, comfortable when worn, pleasing and distinctive in appearance, reducing the expense of assembly with respect to cost of assembling shirts of a like type, thoroughly efficient in the use intended thereby, and expeditiously assembled.

Embodying the aims aforesaid, and others which may hereinafter appear, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be more specifically referred to and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications may be resorted to which fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

With reference to the drawing, the shirt is constructed from a pair of oppositely disposed overlapping front sections 4, 5 of like form, a combined back, shoulder and sleeve forming section 6 and a collar section 1.

Each front section includes a rectangular lower portion and a tapered upper portion 9 formed with an outwardly directed upwardly inclined top edge In, a straight inner edge H and an upwardly extending inwardly inclined upper outer edge l2, which merges at its lower end into the upper end of the straight lower outer edge l3 of portion 8. The latter has an inner straight edge l4 forming a continuation of the edge II.

The back section 6 includes a rectangular lower portion l5 and an upper portion l6 of greater width and of less length than the width and length of portion Hi. The side edges l1, l8 of portion I5 are straight. The portion l6 extends laterally in opposite directions with respect to the upper end of portion 15, as at [5 I 5*. The portion I6 is formed respectively with a pair of oppositely disposed spaced lower edge portions I9, 20 of like form and each includes an upstanding outwardly directed curved inner part 2| merging at its outer end into the inner end of an outwardly directed downwardly inclined outer part 22 of greater length than said part 2|; a pair of oppositely disposed inclined side edges 23, 24 of like form inclining outwardly from their lower to their upper ends; and an upper edge 25 formed of a concaved inner central edge portion 26, a pair of oppositely disposed curved intermediate edge portions 21, 28 of like form, of a contour substantially corresponding to the segment of a circle and having their outer ends arranged above the ends of the portion 26 and a pair of oppositely disposed outer edge portions 29, 30 of like form each consisting of an inwardly upwardly directed curved inner part 3| and an outwardly directed downwardly inclined outer part 32 merging at its inner end into the lower or outer end of the part 3|. The latter is of less length than said part 32.

The upper ends of the edges l1, l8 merge into the inner ends of the parts 2| of the edge portions I9, 20 respectively. The lower ends of the edges 23, 24 merge into the outer ends of the parts 22 of the edge portions I9, 20 respectively. The upper ends of the edges 23, 24 merge into the outer end of the parts 32 of the edge portions 29, 30 respectively. The inner ends of the parts 3| of the edge portions 29, 30 merge into the outer ends of the edge portions 21, 28 respectively. The inner ends of the edge portions 21, 28 merge into the ends of the edge portion 26.

The section 1 is formed of a strip 33 of uniform width for the major portion of its length and it is provided with a pair of oppositely inclined end edges 34 (only one shown) inclining outwardly from the inner side to the outer side of the strip.

The section 1 at its inner side edge is secured to a portion of the edges ll! of the sections 4, 5 and throughout the edge portion 26 of the section 6 by suitable stitching. The section 5 at its inner side is disposed in overlapping relation with respect to the inner side of section 4. The sections 4, 5 at their inner sides are provided with correlated means, as indicated at 35 for detachably connecting said sections together. The said correlated means will be in the form of button-holes and buttons.

The extended portions 15*, l 5 constitute sleeve forming parts and each is connected together and with a front section 4 or 5. Relative to section 6 the edge portion I9 is secured by stitching 36 to the edge portion 29; the edge portion 20 is secured to the edge portion 3|] by the stitching 31; and the edge portions 21, 28 are secured by the stitchings 38, 39 to the edge portions l 2 of the sections 4, 5 respectively. The stitching 36 is extended for securing the edge I! of section 6 to the edge l3 of the section 4. The stitching 31 is extended for securing the edge ill of the section 6 to the edge I3 of the section 5. When the section 6 is secured to the sections 4, 5 it is folded on the oppositely extending lines 40, 4|

Figure 3 and provides the shoulders with the sleeves extending laterally therefrom.

When the section 4, 5 are secured to the section 6 and the section 1 secured to the sections 4, 5 and 6 the shirt will appear as shown by Figures 1 and 2, and the shoulders and sleeves will be provided by integral portions of the section 6 connected to the upper side edges l2 of the front sections 4, 5 whereby the splitting off of the sleeves or the tearing of the latter will be reduced to a minimum, and the discomfiture from seams in the shoulders is overcome.

What I claim is:

1. In a shirt a front panel having a lower edge and outer side edges formed with upwardly and inwardly inclined upper portions, a back panel having lateral upper extensions forming complete integral sleeve members, said extensions folded on themselves and secured together along the lower portion of the sleeve formed thereby, said back panel having a central upper neck edge, and integral spaced apart upper front forming portions, said front forming portions being folded with the sleeve, and over the shoulder, and each having its upper edge secured to one of the inclined portions of the side edges of the front panel of the shirt.

2. In a shirt a pair of overlapping front panels having lower edges, center edges, and outer side edges formed with upwardly and inwardly inclined upper portions, a back panel having lateral upper extensions forming complete integral sleeve members, said extensions folded on themselves and secured along the lower portions of the sleeve formed thereby, said back panel also having a central upper neck edge, and integral spaced apart upper front forming portions, said front forming portions being folded with the sleeve, and over the shoulder, and each having its upper edge secured to one of the inclined portions of the side edges of the front panels of the shirt.
