My invention relates to a folder for carrying bills, money, papers, or the like.

An important object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character which will properly retain the bills in place therein against improper displacement and will permit of the ready removal of a selected bill or bills without opening the folder or disturbing the remaining bill or bills.

A further object of the invention is to provide a folder of the above mentioned character, having pockets which are laterally yieldable for receiving contents of varying thicknesses without permanently distorting the pockets.

A further object of the invention is to provide means for aifording a thickened or reenforced edge or edges for the folder.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration are shown preferred embodiments of my invention, attention being called first to Figures 1 to 6 inclusive, the numeral l0 designates one blank which is elongated and foldable upon a transverse line H, affording sides l2 and I3. The outer side of blank I0 is shown in Figure 6. The side 12 is provided at one longitudinal edge with an elongated attaching flap [4, foldable upon the longitudinal line l5. The side I2 is preferably provided along its two remaining free edges with separate tubular beading sections I2'- made of metal or the like, and clamped thereon. The beading sections prevent the edges from rolling, but the side l2 may have its free corner bent down, as shown in Figure 2, due to the termination of the beading sections and the spaces between them. The side I3 is provided at its opposite longitudinal edges with side sections l6, foldable upon longitudinal edges I1. The blank is provided at the outer ends of the lines I! with notches l8, forming separate elongated flaps l3 and 20. The flaps l9 are integral with the side sections l6 and are foldable upon transverse lines 2|, while the flap 20 is integral with the side 13 and is foldable upon a transverse line 22.

The numeral 23 designates a companion blank (the inner side of the blank being shown in Figure 6), which is elongated and affords a side 25. At its outer end, the side 25 has a closure-flap 21 integral therewith and foldable upon a transverse line 28. The blank 25 further comprises side sections 29, having rounded ends 29', and formed integral with the side 25 and foldable upon longitudinal lines 30. The blank 25 is provided with notches 3|, at the folding lines 30, affording separate elongated flaps 32 and 33. The flaps 32 are integral with the side sections 29 and are foldable upon transverse lines 34 while the flap 33 is integral with the side 25 and is foldable upon a transverse line 35.

The numeral 36 designates a third blank, constituting a side.

The closure-flap is provided with a socket 31 and the side I3 with a stud 33 of a snap fastener.

In assembling the blanks, the side 25 has its left edge, Figure 6, arranged over the attaching flap I4. With the parts thus arranged, the flap l4, and side 25 are secured together by a line of stitching 39, passing through them. Prior to sewing the line of stitching 39, the flap 33 -is folded inwardly over the side 25, and the flaps 32 may then be folded over the side sections 29, or at a later time. With the flaps 33 and 32 folded over, as described, the side 36 is placed upon the side 25, and the side sections 29 are then folded inwardly over the side 36, and the side I3, and the side sections I6, flaps I9, flap 29, and side I3 are all secured together by a transverse line of stitching 4|.

The side 25 and side 36 constitute a pocket and the side 36 and side sections 29 constitute another pocket. Since the inner edges of the side sections 29 substantially contact but are separate the side sections 29 are free to yield outwardly so that the pocket formed thereby will accommodate itself to the reception of contents of diflerent thicknesses and will also permit the side 36 yielding outwardly to accomdomate contents of different thicknesses, without permanently distorting the pocket. The side 36 is free to yield since its longitudinal edges are free. The unitincluding these pockets constitutes a partition having a transverse edge 7 pockets carried by the partition including the side 25 are arranged adjacent to the closureflap 21 and are covered thereby and the open end of the pocket carried by the side I3 is covered by the folding of the side I3 over the side I 2.

In use, the bills ar placed upon the side I2 and side I3 nd its pocket, and the partition is then folded over the bills. When the side I3 is folded to the closed position the bills are folded over the edge 35. While the closureflap 21 is secured to the side I3, bills may be readily removed from the folder. To accomplish this, the folder is turned over and arranged generally horizontally, Figure 2, and the side l2 has its free corner bent back, and a selected bill may be removed by a lateral movement, without disturbing the remaining bill or bills. The folder shown in Figures 7 to 12 inclusive is identical with the folder shown and described in connection with Figures 1 to 6 inclusive with the following exceptions. The side sections iii of the side I3 are omitted and the flaps I9 and 29 and the notches I8 are also omitted. The stud 39 is omitted. The socket 31 is omitted.

In the use of this form of the folder, when the parts are in the closed position, the closureflap 21 is folded over the open ends of the pockets carried by the side 25 but the closureflap 21 is arranged inwardly of the side I3, instead of outwardly of the same, Figure 2.

The use of the folder is substantially identical with that shown and described in connection with Figures 1 to 6 inclusive.

In Figures 13 to 18 inclusive. the numeral 42 designates a blankfoldable upon a transverse line 43, for affording sides 44 and 45. The side 44 has a side section 46 integral therewith and foldable upon a longitudinal line 41. The outside of the blank 42 is shown in Figure 18.

The numeral 48 designates a companion blank, (the inside being shown in Figure 18), including a side 49 and a side 59 integral therewith and foldable upon a longitudinal line 5|. The side 49 carries a side section 52, integral therewith and foldable upon a longitudinal line 53. At one end, the side 49 carries a closure-flap 54, integral therewith and foldable along a transverse line 55. The closure-flap 54 carries a socket 56 and the side 45 carries a stud 51 of a snap fastener. The unit including the sides 49 and 59 and assembled side sections constitute a transverse partition for use in connection with the sides 44 and 45, as will be further explained.

In assembling the various parts of the folder, the side 59 is folded over the inner face of the side 49 along the line 5| and the side section 52. is then folded over the side 59. The side section 46 is next arranged upon the side 59 near and opposite the side section 52. The side sections 46 and 52 are now secured to the sides 49 and 59 by a transverse line of stitching 53.

After the parts are thus secured together the side 49 is folded over the inner face of the side 44, along the line 41. The sides 49 and 59 form a pocket having its open end next to the closureflap 54 and the side sections 52 and 46 form a pocket having its open end next to the flap 54. The pocket formed by the side sections 52 and 46 is laterally yieldable to accommodate contents of variousthicknesses and the pocket formed by the side 59 is also laterally yieldable to accommodate contents of varying thic. This is true since one edge of the side 59 is free from attachment to the side .49. The side 49 carrying the pockets constitutes a partition ex-' tending over the side 44. The bills are laid upon the inner faces of the sides 44 and 45 and when the side 45 is folded over the side 44, the

bills are folded transversely about the transverse edge of the partition. The closure-flap 54 is folded over the open ends of the pockets and is attached to the side 45 by the snap fastener. By holding the folder horizontally, Figure 4, a selected bill or bills may be removed in a transverse direction without disturbing the remaining bill or bills.

The blanks forming the folders may be of a leather, artificial leather, fabric, or any other 1. A folder of the character described comprising a blank including sides, one side being foldable upon a transverse line over the other side, a side section carried by one side and foldable over a longitudinal line upon the same, a second blank including a side and another side foldable over a longitudinal line upon such side, a side section carried by the first-named side of the second blank and foldable over the secondnamed side of the second blank, the side section of the first-named blank being arranged upon the second side of the second-named blank, the side sections and the firstand second-named sides of the second blank being stitched together near one end, and forming a partition to be arranged between the sides of the first blank when such sides are closed.

2. A folder of the character described, comprising a first side and a second side which are connected and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a side section carried by the first side, the first side being foldable about a longitudinal line with respect to the side section, a third side, a fourth side carried by the third side and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged at an opposed closed position with respect to the third side, a side section carried by the third side and arranged in an opposed closed position with respect to the third side, the first side section being positioned upon the third and fourth sides when in the opposed closed position and disposed opposite the second side section, the side sections forming with the fourth side a pocket and the fourth side forming with the third side a pocket, the assembled third and fourth sides and side sections forming a partition arranged between the first and second sides when they are moved to the closed position, the inner end of the partition being arranged near the transverse line of folding of the first and second sides, means connecting the ends of the assembled third and fourth sides and side sections.

3. A folder of the character described, comprising a first side and a second side which are connected and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a side section carried by the first side, the first side being foldable about a longitudinal line with respect to the side section, a third side, a fourth side carried by the third side and arranged at an opposed closed position with respect to the third side, a side section carried by the third side and arranged in an opposed closed position with respect to the third side, the first side section being positioned upon the third and fourth sides when in the opposed closed position and disposed opposite the second side section, the side sections forming with the fourth side a pocket and the fourth side forming with the third side a pocket,

-the assembled third and fourth sides and side sections forming a partition arranged between the first and second sides when they are moved to the closed position, the inner end of the partition being arranged near the transverse line of folding of the first and second sides, means connecting the inner ends of the assembled third and fourth sides and side sections, a flap carried by the outer end of the third side and foldable over the outer open end of-the pockets, and means connecting the flap with the second side which does not carry the partition.

4. A folder comprising connected first and second sides foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a side section carried by the first side, the first side being fold- 76 able upon a longitudinal line with respect to the side section, a third side, a side section carried by the third side and arranged in opposed relation thereto and attached to the third side near its outer longitudinal edge, the first side section being placed in an opposed position with respect to the third side and opposite the second side section, means attaching the ends of the side sections to the end of the third side, the assembled third side and side sections forming a partition carried by the first side and adapted to be arranged between the first and second sides when folded to the closed position, the inner edge of the partition being arranged near the transverse folding line of the first and second sides, a flap carried by the third side included in the partition, and means to connect the fiap with the second side which does not carry the partition.

5. A folder comprising connected first and second sides which are foldable upon a transverse line so that such sides may be brought to an opposed closed position, a side section secured to the first side, the first side being foldable about a longitudinal line with respect to the side section, a third side, a side section secured to the third side adjacent to one longitudinal edge of the third side and arranged in opposed relation to the third side, the first side section being arranged in opposed relation to the third side, the inner edges of the side sections being separate so that such side sections may yield outwardly, a fourth side arranged between the side sections and third side, means for securing together the inner ends of the third side, fourth side and side sections, at least one longitudinal edge of the fourth side being free from connection through the major portion of its length with the third side, the assembled third side, fourth side and side sections forming a partition carried by the first side and arranged between the first and second sides when folded to the closed position, and

a fiap carried by the outer end of the third side,

and means for detachably connecting the flap with the second side which does not carry the partition.

6. A folder of the character described comprising first and second sides which are connected and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the first side and foldable about a longitudinal line to be arranged between the first and second sides, the inner end of the partition being arranged adjacent to the transverse folding line, and a fiap carried by the outer end of the partition and foldable transversely of the partition over the outer end of the side which does not carry the partition, and means to detachably secure the fiap to the side which does not carry the partition, the outer corner of the side which carries the partition being free to be bent back while the flap is secured to the second side which does not carry the partition.

7. A folder comprising first and second sides which are connected and foldable about a transhaving its outer corner free to be bent back while the flap is secured to the side which does not carry the Partition.

8. A bill folder comprising opposed first and second sides, one side being foldable upon a transverse line to'be arranged in an opposed closed position with respect to the other side, a partition carried by the first side and foldable upon a line extending longitudinally of the first side, the partition being arranged between the first and second sides when such sides are closed and having a transverse bill folding edge arranged near the transverse "folding line, and means carried by the partition and detachably connected with the second side which does not carry the partition to hold the second side in the closed position with respect to the partition, said means leaving that edge of the second side which is remote from the longitudinal folding line free from attachment with the partition throughout substantially the entire length of such edge, the outer corner of the first side which carries the partition being free to be bent back while the partition is connected with the second side.

9. A bill folder comprising first and second sides which are connected at their inner ends and foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a partition arranged between the first and second sides when they are closed and carried by the first side and foldable about a longitudinal line, the partition having a transverse folding edge arranged near the transverse folding line, and a flap carried by the 'outer end of the partition and transversely foldabl with respect to the partition, and means for detachably connecting the flap with the second side which does not carry the partition to hold the second side closed with relation to the partition, the outer comer of the side which carries the partition being free to be folded back while thefiap is secured to the second side.

10. A folder of the character described comprising first and second sides which areconnected at their inner ends and are foldable upon a transverse line to assume an opposed closed position, a partition carried by the first side and foldable about a longitudinal line and arranged between the closed first and second sides, said partition having an inner edge arranged adjacent to the transverse folding line, a flap for connection with the side which does not carry the partition to hold the side closed, the partition being arranged between portions of bills folded about the same and the fiap being arranged upon the side of the folded portions of the bill which is remote from the partition and 7 side which carries the partition, the outer corner end of the partitionvbeing arranged adjacent to the transverse folding line, said partition having a pocket, the outer end of the pocket remote from the transverse folding line being open, a flap carried by the outer end of the partition and foldable over the outer open end of-the pocket, and means to attach the flap to the side which does not carry the partition, the side which carries the partition having its outer corner free to be bent back without detaching the fiap from the other side.
