This invention .relatesT-to infants bathing devices and refersmore particularly to a b'athtub and a filling hose and-.spray'nozzle therefon'together with means forretaining the end of the hose and the spray nozzle in spaced relation to p a wall of the tub.

Heretofore, in infants bathing devices filling hoses having :spray nozzles have extended over the upper edges of the tub andno means was providedforretaining the end-ofthe hose in adjustedrelation to a wall of the tub during the filling and spraying operations. This resulted in splattering of the water'outside of the tub due to'the retractive andwhipping action of the hose causedby theforce of the water when the hose is released. Inorder to overcome these difficulties, meansis provided for associating the hose with the tuband forretaining the hose against retraction and whippingaction when released.

More particularlythe invention has 'in view guide means-carried by-a wall-of the 'tubthroug h which guide means thehose is trained andlongitudinally slidable for disposing the nozzle thereof within thetub in spaced relation to said wall and stop means slidably adjustable on the hose and adapted to coact with the guide means for retaining the nozzle in spaced relation therewith against the retractive action of the water flowing through the hose.

The invention further embodies a stop means consisting preferably of a resilient or elastic stop collar having an apertured portion, the wall of which aperture is preferably serrated to provide a toothed gripping surface for adjustable sliding engagement with the hose so as to retain the stop collar in any desired relation with reference to the nozzle against accidental or unintentional shifting thereof.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, reference is now made to the following specification and the accompanying drawings in which:

Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of an infants bathing device equipped with a filling hose and spray nozzle constructed in accordance with the invention.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged face view of a stop collar employed in connection therewith.

Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view thereof taken approximately on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

In order to provide means for retaining the nozzle l4 in adjusted spaced relation to th 'end wall I2 against any tendency to 'bere'tracted by the pressure of water flowing therethrough, a collar 15 is provided which is apertured as at 16 to snugly engage with and-slide upon the hose l3 so that the same "may be positioned in adjusted. spaced relationwith reference to the nozzle I4 to serve as a stop when engaging withvthe wall 12 of thetub for holding the *noz-zleLi-nadjusted spaced relationtherewith.

Preferably the collar i=5 is constructedpf rubber or other elastic material and has the wallrof the aperture l6 notched to provide radiallypr'ojecting circumferentially spaced teeth I! defining a toothed gripping surface which, due to the inherent elasticity of the collar, effects a normal radially inward contraction thereof to frictionally engage the hose and thereby retain the collar in adjusted position thereon, thus preventing unintentional or accidental relative movement of the collar and hose.

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawings, the hose I3 is trained through a guide means which in the instant embodiment is in the form of a clip 20 constructed of semi-vulcanized rubber, spring metal or any other equivalent material to provide the proper resiliency for clampingly attaching the clip over the upper edge of a wall 2| of the bathtub 22. The clip 20 preferably consists of a pair of oppositely disposed mating side members 23 provided with aligned apertures in the upper portions 24 thereof through which apertures a grommet 25 extends for securing the side members together with the upper portions 24 thereof in side by side contacting relation and defining a guide opening 26 in which the hose I3 is longitudinally slidable for disposing the free end thereof and the spray nozzle [4 within the tub in spaced relation to the wall 2| thereof. The side members 23 below the upper portions 24 are outwardly flared and are recurved inwardly adjacent the free endsZ'l thereof providing a pair of resilient terminals with a restricted opening therebetween for receiving the upper edge of the end wall 2i when clamping the same therebetween.

A similar collar I5 is longitudinally slidable on the hose l3 between the clip 20 and the free end thereof and which frictionally engages the hose so as to serve as a stop when the collar engages with the clip 20 to prevent retraction of the hose through the clip 20 to thereby retain the nozzle in adjusted spaced relation to the end wall 2!. Constructed in this manner, the clip 20 is removable so that the same may be applied to the upper edge of the wall of the tub which is most convenient to the water supply outlet.

What is claimed is:

1. In an infants bathing device, a bathtub provided with a guide means associated with a wall thereof, a hose trained through said guide means with one end thereof protruding into the tub and the opposite end adapted to be connected to a source of water supply, a spray nozzle on the end of said hose protruding into said tub, and an elastic radially and inwardly contractible collar having an apertured portion provided with a toothed gripping surface embracing the hose and disposed thereon between the said wall of the tub and the nozzle and over which hose the collar is slidable to any desired position in relation to the nozzle and which toothed surface grippingly engages the hose by the contractile action of the collar to provide a stop when positioned against the guide means for retaining the nozzle in adjusted spaced relation therewith against the action of the water flowing through the hose.

2. In an infants bathing device, a bathtub provided with an opening in a wall thereof, a hose trained through said opening with one end thereof protruding into the tub and the opposite end adapted to be connected to a source of water supply, a spray nozzle on the end of said hose protruding into said tub and an elastic radially and inwardly contractible collar having an apertured portion provided with a toothed gripping surface embracing the hose and disposed thereon between the said wall of the tub and the nozzle and over which hose the collar is slidable to any desired position in relation to the nozzle and which toothed surface grippingly engages the hose by the contractile action of the collar to provide a stop when positioned against the wall of the tub for retaining the nozzle in adjusted spaced relation therewith against the action of the water flowing through the hose.

3. In an infants bathing device, a tub having a wall provided with hose guide means, a hose trained through said means with one end thereof protruding into the tub and the opposite end adapted to be connected to a source of water supply, and means frictionally engaging the hose to provide a stop adapted to engage said guide means for limiting the retraction of the hose with reference to said wall, said stop means being adjustable on the hose to vary the length of the hose protruding into the tub when the stop means engages the guide means.

4. In an infants bathing device, a bathtub, an apertured clip clampingly engaging over the upper edge of a wall thereof, a hose longitudinally slidable in the aperture of said clip for disposing the free end of the hose within the tub in spaced relation to said wall thereof, the opposite end of the hose being adapted to be connected to a source of water supply, and an elastic radially and inwardly contractible collar having an apertured portion frictionally embracing the hose and disposed thereon between the said clip and the free end of the hose and on which hose the collar is longitudinally adjustable to any desired position and which grippingly engages the hose by the contractile action of the collar to provide a stop engageable with said clip for retaining the end of the hose in adjusted spaced relation with the said wall of the tub against the action of the water flowing through the hose.
