SYRINGE HOLDING CLIP.
Application filed February 19, 1925.
To all whomz't may concern:
Be it known that we, TNnz L. HAnMoN and STANLEY F. GIBBS, citizens of the United States, residing at Loma Linda and Glendale, respectively, in the counties of San Bernardino and Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Syringe-Holding Clips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to syringe holding clips and particularly to a device for attachment to any ordinary type of fountain syringe which will retain the nozzle of the syringe when not in use above the water level in the water container.
A further object is to provide a syringe holding spring clip member providing security of the nozzle when placed in the spring clip member facilitating ready removal of the nozzle if desired; 1 c
It is readily apparent that the value of such a device lies in the disposal of the nozzle above the water-level in the fountain syringe container to prevent a siphon of the water or inadvertent leaking of water through the nozzle.
Other objects and advantages will be made manifest in the following specification of an embodiment of the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fountain syringe provided with the syringe holding clip. 7
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the syringe holding clip as seen when disengaged.
Figure 3 is a vertical side view of a particular type of spring clip member employed.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a rubber fountain syringe with the syringe holding clip attached.
Figure 5 is a side view of a modified form of syringe holding clip.
The details of construction and use of the invention are as follows:
An ordinary type of fountain syringe wa ter container 1 as illustrated in Figure 1 being formed with a flat back 2 and a semicircular front 3 is adapted to rest upon a shelf or hang upon a hook in the usual manner. A nipple 4: at the lower end provides a connection with rubber tubing 5 which conducts water from the container and dis charges it through nozzle 6. Ordinarily Serial No. 10,298.
there is no provision for. disposal of, the
nozzle when not in use except by laying.
the rubber tubing over the topor the handle of the water container. To remedy this a syringe holding clip is formed of a straight strap 10 preferably a metal, strap and this is bent at its upper endto form, a hook 11. Adjacent the upper end of the strap 10 is fastened a transverse memberv 12 which is curved in a seIni-circular form enclosing the hook 11 and adapted to' conform to the semi-circular front 3 of the water container 1. This transverse member may be welded, soldered, riveted or fastened by any suitable means to the straight strap 10. A clip member 13 is formed of resilient material such as a metal spring per end with a short outwardly bent lip 20. The section 18 is bent into a semi-circular shape and formed with a lip 21, so that the opposing sections 17 and 18 provide an opening into which an object havinga substantially circular diameter may be inserted. The lips 20 and 21 are adapted to 'act as guideways for the article to be inserted. As the clip member 13 is made of spring material the sections 17 and 18 are adapted to accommodate themselves to the nozzles of various sizes and to firmly grasp whatever nozzle may be placed therein. The clip member 13 is secured to the straight strap 10 by any suitable means such as soldering or riveting.
The use of the invention is very simple. The hook 11 is placed over the rim 25 of the water container 1 and the semi-circular transverse member 12 is pushed against the front 3 and engaged underthe head 26 of the water container. Thusthe hook will support the syringe holding clip and the transverse member 12 fitting against the bead of the water container will prevent the clip from being disconnected.
The syringe nozzle I 6 may be pressed against the lips 20 and 21 of the spring clip 27 for preventing the dislodgment of thenozzle 6 is provided by the curvature of the sections 17 and 18. i
The Water container illustrated in Figure 4 is of rubber and has-alip 30, aneck 31", a flat side 32 and a discharge opening 33. The syringeholdingclip may he liooked over; theriin the transverse 1nembe1--12 laidadjacent th-e neck 31 and the st aiglit' strap 10- extended vert'leallyagainst the Hat side 32-.
It will be; seen that Wherev the syringe-holding clip is; employed With a rubber fountain- 'syrii'nge thelength; of the straight strap 10" provides an added support for holding the clip in position-- as the side 32 of the contaiiier is-hatural'lysomewhat yielding l'l t is. obviousthat the clip member 13 might besecured tothewater container 1- i'nthe manui'hcture or the Water container without) the employment of the straightstrap-10= an d the transverse member 12.
In the modified form- 015 syringe holding clip lllustrated in Figure 5 a clamp ngmenb her iQiS formed with a loop 11 adapted to accommodate the head 26 of the Water contiai'nen 1 and a tongue 42" extendsdownwardly and terminates in a flare 48'. The body of the syringe holdihgeli'p comprises a continuation 4A of the" clamp member 46 and a vertical shank 45 which is split at the upperend to provide apair'oi spring clip members 46 and 47. It is apparent that the clamp memben 40-need's merely to be pressed Over the bead 26 and downwardly until' the loop 41 surrounds the bead 26, and the tongue; 42' pressing against the Wall of the Water container Will retain the syringe hold ingclip: in position.
Various changes may be made Without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed;
What is claimed is:
1 fr syringe holding clip comprising a. support adapted tohcoli: overthe rim. ota container, and a clip member spaced from said support havin-g a bifiureated upperend, forming two spring sections curved oppositely todorm a c-liofor holding: a nozzle in horizontal position;
2. A syringe holding clip: consisting of a unitary strip: of spring metal: having one end bent upon itself: to llornra llook adapted. to" fit over therim: of acontainer, an in termediate spacingarm, and: a nozzle holde in-g' end split longitudinallyto form two arms bent in the shape of a; substantially. cineular' opening: for: holding a. nozzle in horizontal position;
In testimony'whereof werhavesigned ournames: to this specification.
