D is the lireplace front, made of sheet or cast metal, and has a large opening, O, and is provided with four or more hooks, d d, which take in the holes d d in the hearth-plate A.
E E are the jambs, one on each side of the grate, and provided with the hooks e ands.

C is the folding fender, provided with the hinges M M at the corners, and with the pins o c at the ends ofthe side pieces. These pins fit into the holes c c in the fire-place front D. Y The fire-place is set up in the following maunerfrThe back'plate, F, is set up first by passing the hooks ffinto the holes f' f',- then'the jambs are placed in position by pass-l 'ing the hooks e e into the holes e o in the yhearth-plate and the hooks vs s vinto holes s s in the back plate,F. Next the grate is se,- cured by resting the ends of the bars H H in the notches N and P.` ,The lire-place front is then set up by -passing the hooks d d d d into the holes d' d d d( in the hearth-plate A and uniting it with4 the jambs E E by means of the screws .K K. The fender is then secured by passing the pins c c into the holes c o.in the fire-place front D. All parts are thus well fastened to each "other, and cannot inove or shake, and the tire-place now stands firm and secure, and need notbe supported by any By a reversal of these steps it can be taken apart4 and laid away until again required;
