This invention relates to improvements in sliders for slide fasteners of the well-known type wherein -a plurality of interlocking elements carried by a pair of tapes are engaged or disengaged by movement of the slider along the elements longitudinally of the tapes.
It is an object of the present invention to pro.- vide a simplified separable slider which may be readily applied to or removed fromthe fastener.
A further object is to provldein such a slider, a locking construction by which the fastener may be loc'ked in closed position.
Additionall objects and advantages will become apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Referring to the drawing, my improved slider v includes a base member 2 and a top or front member 3 of similar outline, each having lateral edge flanges I defining a Y-shaped channel within the slider when the members 2 and 3 are in superimposed relation. Y Y
In order that the slider may be readily applied to or removed from the fastener without the customary threading operation formerly made necesi ber 2 adjacent the hinge part l, which flanges form an abutmentbetween the members 2 and?) serving as a spacer between said members when applied to the fastener.
For separably connecting the hinged members 2 and 3, I prefer to employ a frictional lock generally known as a snap, which securing means is incorporated in the slider parts in the following manner. Apost or male member 8 is secured as by riveting to the base member 2, said post being centrally located and having a rounded and necked 4terminal 9 extending toward the member 3.
,The top member 3 is centrally apertured at I0 for frictionally engaging the snap terminal 9, and the metal of the member 3 is slotted on either side of the opening I3 as at Il, and also by slots l2.intersecting the opening i6 and extending be? tween .the slots Il. 'Ihe slots Il and I2 provide resilient strips therebetween, providing with the aperture l0, a resilient socket attachment 0r female member for removably engaging the post terminal 3, securing members 2 and 3 together in proper relation.
By locating the post member 8 centrally between the flanges 'l forming the Y-shaped channel, as shown in Fig. 2, said post functions as a separator for the interlocking elements of the fastener upon movement of the slider along the closed fastener.
'I'he necked portion of the terminal 9 together with the abutment l, provide for, proper alinement of the members 2 and 3, when connected upon the fastener. If it isdesired to remove the slider, the user may pry 'the members 2 and 3 apart to disengage the snap connection 9-I0, the members then being pivotally separable about the hinge 3 3.
It will be noted that when the slider is assem bled as stated, the -head 3 of the post 3 and abut` ment 1 normally separate the members 2 and 3 so that their flanges 4 are spaced as in Figs. 4, 5 and 6 to be V'freely slidable along and over the usual tapes of the fastener. to provide for selective locking of the present sliderk on thefastenertapes in the following manner.

Member I3 likewise is provided Awith a central aperture I! formed between spaced resilient side members Ii, the saidmembers and aperture providing a resilient socket for engagement with the head 3 of the post l.
By engagement of the pull member I3 with the post 3 as shown in Fig. 7, thethickness of the metal ofthe member I3 will displace the slider member 3 toward its complementa! member 2, thereby urging their flanges 4 together for pressure clamping engagement with the fastener tapes therebetween. ' It will therefore be seen that I have provided a slider construction which is readily and economically cons'tructed, and one .which is simple and positive in operation.
While I have shown but one embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that various changes and modifications are contemplated within the scope of the following claims.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A slider for slide fasteners including a pair of hinged members, and coacting frictional snap means centrally of the members for removably securing said members together, said means lx1- cluding a post on one member and aresilient socket formed in the other member for engaging said post, said post being disposed centrally of its member and constructed for separating the slide fastener elements.
2. A slider for slide fasteners including a pair of hinged members, one of said members having a post extending toward the other, said other member having a central aperture and slotsl adjacent thereto providing a resilient socket for removably engaging the headed post, said post being disposed centrally of its member and constructed for separating the slide *fastener elements.
3. A slider for slide fasteners including a pair of hinged members, one o'f said members having a post extending toward the other, said other member having' a central aperture and slots adjacent thereto providing a resilient socket for removably engaging the lpost, and means on one of the members spaced from the post and socket and operable therewith to space said'members apart, said post being disposed centrally o! its member and constructed for separating the slide fastener elements.
4. A slider for slide fasteners including a base member having an integral extension at one end thereof forming va hinge part, integral portions adjacent the hinge part disposed upright from the member forming a spacing abutment, a top A elements.

A slider 'for slide fasteners including a pair of hinged members, one of said members having a central post extending toward the other, said other member having a central aperture and slots adjacent thereto providing a resilient socket for removably engaging the post, and a pivoted pull member having a resilient socket for engaging the post atop the apertured slider member whereby the latter is displaced toward the other slider member for locking the slider in place, said post being centrally positioned on its member and constructed to extend between and separate the slide fastener elements.
6. A slider for slide fasteners including a base member having an integral extension at one end thereof forming a hinge part, a top member pivotally engaging the hinge part, one of said members having a. post extending toward the other, said other member having an aperture and slots adjacent thereto providing a resilient socket for removably engaging the post, and a pull member pivotally engaging the hinge part and having a apertured slide member, whereby the latter is displaced toward the other slider member for locking the slider in place, said post being centrally positioned on its member and constructed to extend between and separate the slide fastener "SIMON RosEN'rHAL.
