The forward end of the forward terminal part I of member [2 has fixed thereto a pintle 23, which is preferably integral with said part. The forward end of the forward terminal part 213' is provided with a hinge barrel 24 engaging about the pintle 23 whereby the members l2, l8 are hingedly connected together at their forward ends.
The intermediate V-shaped part, of the movable clamping member G8 at its forward or outer end is provided with a substantially V-shaped lug or extension 25 which as shown in Figure 4 is bent longitudinally and in the direction of the fixed clamping member !2. The extension 25 is of greater length than and projects rearwardly from the extension IE on member H2. The reduced or apex portion of the lug 25 is adapted to engage on the seat it when the movable clampingmember I 8 is disposed in clamping position. A holding or tensioning nut or sleeve 25 of uniform diameter is threaded onto the stem H and is adapted when moved forwardly to engage the reduced or apex portion of the lug 25 so as to compress the spring 2! against the guard 27.
The guard 2'? is formed with a pair of openings 28 which are to align with the openings in the blade ll for the passage of the studs it. The guard 21 is constructed from a substantially rectangular sheet of metal and is provided at its opposite longitudinal edges with spaced apart teeth 29 which are longitudinally curved as shown in Figure 3 so that the desired portion of the keen edges of the blade ll will be exposed for use.
In the use of this device as a razor the guard member 21 is inserted between the clamping members l2 and 58 with the razor blade ll and these two parts engaging the pins l6. Themovable clamping member it may be swung to an open position similar to that shown in Figure 6 at which time the holder 21 and the blade l l may be engaged with the pins H3.
The holder hereinbefore described is adapted to be placed in a receptacle or carrier generally designated as (H which is of substantially rectangular configuration and is provided with a longitudinally extending partition 32 which is parallel to the side walls 33. The partition 32 divides the container or receptacle 3i into a holder chamber 34 and a second chamber 3'5 in which the strop or sharpening member 30 is adapted to engage and also a container 36 for holding razor blades. The container 3| may be provided with a suitable hinged cover (not shown) so that a relatively compact kit will be provided.
What I claim is:
In a safety razor, a fixed clamping member, a movable clamping member for disposing in superposed relation with respect to said fixed member, said members each including a hollow V-shaped intermediate portion terminating in a pair of oppositely disposed fiat side portions, the said in termediate portions of said members having oppositely disposed tapered forward downwardly extending terminal parts inclining inwardly throughout from the forward ends of the apices of such portions to the forward ends of said members, a tapered inwardly inclined extension projecting rearwardly from the inner end of the intermediate portion of each member, the extension on said movable member being of greater length than and projecting rearwardly from the extension on said fixed member, handle means including a threaded shank having a rabbeted forward terminal portion merging into the rear end of the extension on said fixed member, said rabbeted portion forming a seat for the rear terminal portion of the said extension of greatest length, oppositely disposed interengaging means integral with and extended forwardly from the forward ends of the inclined forward terminal parts of said intermediate portions for hinging said members together, studs integral with the inner face of the apex of the intermediate portion of said fixed member, an apertured blade having its sides seated on and extended from the 9 side portions of the fixed member, an apertured guard seated on said blade engaged solely by and disposed in extended relation with respect to the side portions of the movable member and beyond said blade, said studs extending through said blade and guard, a bow-shaped spring secured to the inner face of the apex of the intermediate portion of said movable member and bearing on said guard, and an adjustable re-voluble interiorly threaded sleeve of uniform diameter carried by and threadedly engaging with said handle shank for releasably binding the rear terminal portion of the extension on the movable member against said seat to thereby detachably clamp said members to said blade and guard.
