SHAV'ING-STICK HOLDER.
Application filed May 15,1922.
7 '0 all whom it may concem."
Be it known that I. WILLIAM FREDERICK CorrRELL, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and residing at 435 Fishponds Road, Fishponds. Bristol, in the,
county of Gloucester, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Shaving-Stick Holders. of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to shaving stick holders of the type comprising a container and a sliding member therein supporting the soap and having means projecting through longitudinal slots in the container whereby the sliding member may be adjusted longitudinally according to the length of the soap stick.
The invention comprises a container hav ing longitudinal and lateral slots, a sliding member having means engaging said slots and adapted to carry the shaving stick and spring means for holding the sliding member in its adjusted relation. Said spring means may comprise an 'S-shaped spring attached to the sliding member the ends of the spring engaging the slots in the container.
The accompanying drawings illustrate di agrammatically the carrying of the invention into efi'ect:
Figure 1 is an outside elevation of a holder according to one form;
Figure 2 being a sectional elevation thereof:
Figure 3 is an elevation of a modified form;
Figure 4 is a sectional plan of a detail;
Figures 5' and 6 are sectional elevation and plan of a further form.
In carrying the invention into effect as shown in Figures 1 and 2, a cylindrical container 7 is provided having diametrically opposite slots 8 arranged longitudinally'and extending to within about a quarter of an inch from either end.
Connected to said slots are a series of lateral slots 9. These slots 9 are arranged throughout the length of the longitudinal slots and at a suitable distance apart. The lateral slots extend either side of the longitudinal slots or, if desired. they may extend only on one side of the longitudinal slots, as indicated in Figure 3.

ing-stick 11.. This member is provided with pins 12 mounted at diametrically opposite points. such pins being adapted. to project through the slots in the container.
If desired milled heads 13 or the like may be mounted on said pins 12 in orden to facilitate the manipulation of the device.
It will be understood that accordin to the length of the shaving-stick 11 the sliding member 10 may be adjusted longitudinally and rotated so that the pins 12 engage in the appropriate lateral slots 9. Spring means comprising blade spring 16 riveted to the member 10 at diametrically opposite points are provided for holding the member 10 in itsadjusted position.
The upper end of the container is provided with a closing cap 1-1 which may be screwed thereon or may slide thereon as desired or be fixed in any other suitable manner.
In order to strengthen the container 7, which may be weakened by the cutting therein of the slots. longitudinal ribs or corrugations 15 may be provided adjacent the slots as indicated in Figure l.
The spring means which are provided to hold the sliding member 10 in its adjusted position may comprise. as illustrated in F igures 5 and 6. an S-shaped spring 16 mounted on the sliding member 10 so that the ends 17 thereof engage in the lateral slots, so that by an inward pressure on such ends by means ofthe milled heads they may be disengaged from the lateral slots while on releasing them after longitudinal adjustment the ends of the spring will engage in other slots and hold the sliding member rigidly in position.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is I 1. A shaving stick holder comprising a container having longitudinal and lateral slots, a sliding memberinserted in said container. spring means comprising an S- shaped spring attached to said sliding member, the ends of said spring engaging said slots.
2. A shaving stick holder as claimed in claim 1, wherein buttons are mounted on the ends of said spring.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
