The invention relates to a cue construction and more especiallyto a shuflieboardcue.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a cue of this character, wherein the same is formed with a substantially arrowheadshaped head adapted to rest directly upon the game piece for the playing of the game of shuffleboard and carries downwardly directed portions at the rear of the game piece so that it can be set in motion in the playing of the game.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a cue of this character, wherein the construction thereof is novel in its entirety and its handle is pivotally supported relative to a head so as to have limited swing without interfering with the sending of the game piece in the use of the cue for the playing of shuiileboard.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a cue of this character, which is simple in its construction, thoroughly reliable and effective in operation, readily and easily handled, light in weight yet strong, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred and modified forms of embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawing in detail, particularly Figures 1 to 3, inclusive, A designates a game piece, which, as is conventional, is of disk form for the playing of the game of shufileboard and such game piece or playing piece is sent in its course in the playing of the game by a cue con- 59 stituting the present invention and comprises a handle, a portion thereof being indicated at l0, and is attached to a head, generally denoted at B.

The head B is formed from a single blank of cast or sheet metal, its body ll being of arrowhead formation, while struck upwardly from this versely through the handle ID. The pivot I6 is 10 arranged so as to give a limited vertical swing to the handle 10 when pocketed within the groove or channel l3.

The body II at the rear portion thereof is formed with laterally directed rearwardly di- 5 vergent extensions or wings [1, these being turned downwardly at the ends thereof to provide pusher abutments or jaws l8 for engaging the peripheral portion of the game or play piece A when the head. B is superimposed thereon to enable the 20 said game or playing piece to be sent in its course in the playing of the game of shuffleboard.

The body I l at the longitudinal median thereof is formed with a forwardly directed substantially'arrowhead-shaped toe l9, which has con- 2 tact with the upper face of the game or playing piece A when the head is engaged therewith in the use of the cue for the sending of said game or play piece in the playing of shufiieboard. In Figure 4 of the drawing there is shown a 3 slight modification wherein a single length of wire is bent into an arrowhead-shaped head 20 having the lateral rearwardly divergent wing extension 2| and toe 22, respectively, while this frame 20 has bent therefrom the rearwardly 4o directed and forwardly inclined spaced parallel arms 23 for attaching a cross pivot 24 thereto, the said pivot being passed transversely through the handle of the cue, a portionof the handle being indicated at 25, and in this manner the 45 said handle is pivotally connected to the head.

Bent from the wings 2| are the downturned pusher jaws 26, which function correspondingly to the jaws l8 hereinbefore set forth.

In Figures 1 to 4 the preferred and modified forms of cue are shown in applied position to the game or play pieces for the playing of the game of shuflleboard, the toe l9 or 22 being in resting position upon the top of the game or play piece while the jaws I8 or 26 peripherally engage the said game or play piece for convenient sending of the latter in its course when playing the game of shufiieboard.

What is claimed is:

1. A one of the character described comprising an arrowhead-shaped head having pusher jaws rearwardly and laterally disposed of its transverse and longitudinal medians, a toe forwardly of the head at the longitudinal median thereof, and a forwardly inclined handle fitted with the head and having limited vertical swing.

2. A one of the character described comprising an arrowhead-shaped head having pusher jaws rearwardly and laterally disposed of its trans-' verse and longitudinal medians, a toe forwardly of the head at the longitudinal median thereof,

a forwardly inclined handle fitted with the head and having limited vertical swing, and meansswin-gingly connecting the handle with the head.

3. A cue of the character described comprising an arrowhead-shaped head having pusher jaws rearwardly and laterally disposed of its transverse and longitudinal medians, a toe forwardly of the head at the longitudinal median thereof.

a forwardly inclined handle fitted with the head and having limited vertical swing, means swingingly connecting the handle with thehead, and a rib struck upwardly from the head at its longitudinal median and partially accommodating the handle.

4. A cue for a play disc of a shuffleboard game, comprising a substantially arrowhead-shaped body forming forwardly and rearwardly and lat: erally disposed extensions arranged at the samelevel' withrespect to each other for contact with the play disc, a pointed toe formed at the fOI'". ward extension, down-turned abutments at the ends of said rearward and lateral extensions for engaging the periphery of said disc at a point considerably rearwardly of the toe, a rib struck upwardly from the said body at the longitudinal median thereofand inclined forwardly for receiving a handle, and a handle pivotally mounted in said rib and having a beveled inner end for contact with the disc to limit the swingv of said handle in a vertical direction.
