UNITED STATES PATENT CFFIGE.
CHARLES B.-DIOKINSON, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN lNTERFERlNG-STRAPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 220.585, dated October 14, 1879; application filed August 27, 1879.
' this specification.
This invention relates to ankle-boots or interfering-straps; and it consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out by the claim.
In the annexed drawings, which fully illustrate my invention, Figure l is a side elevation of my device open, and Fig. 2 a similar view of the same closed.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts.
A represents the strap, provided with a suitable fastening device, a, and part B extending out on a level with the edges of the same. 0
represents projections on the inner side of the strap, and D represents loops on the outer side. i
The loops are soft and yielding, and, when struck by the horses foot or leg, cause him to spread his gait, and, being soft and pliable,
cannot injure the leg upon which itis fastened or the one striking it, as is now the case with interfering straps or boots now in use.
The projecting bars on the inside serve to keep the boot or strap away from the leg, admitting of a free circulation of air, and also allowing the gravel or dirt which may be picked up to fall through, thereby preventing the leg from becoming sore by the gravel or dirt being pressed into the leg by striking the boot.
By this arrangement, in addition to the advantages set forth, a strap or boot is produced that combines lightness, neatness, durability, and effectiveness, and one that can be cheaply constructed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
An ankle-boot or interfering-strap having strap A, with projections G, placed around the entire inside, and separate flexible loops D on the outside thereof, and provided with a suitable fastening device, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as .my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
(J. B. DICKINSON.
