I 1 Claim.

The invention relates to a purse or the like and more especially to an arm fitting purse.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a purse of this character, wherein it is built for wearing on the arm of a user, being securely held and minimizing liability of its loss, misplacement or theft as frequently happens when carried in the hand of such user.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a purse of this character, wherein during the wearing of the same it will not interfere with the garments of a wearer and is hidden from view in that the sleeve of the outer garment will cover such purse while being worn.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a purse of this character, wherein a single lock serves to fasten the said purse upon the arm of a person and also in a closed condition and in this manner is rendered theftproof, being upon the person, and does not lend discomfort in the wearing thereof when sleeping.

A further object of the invention is the prvision of a nurse of this character, which is simple in construction, readily and easily applied to the arm of a person for the wearing thereof, thoroughly reliable and efficient in operation, neat in appearance, strong, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally a purse constructed in accordance with the invention and comprises an arched body l0, preferably elongated, having permanently closed ends ll, sides 52 and outer wall I3, respectively, while the inner wall l4 constitutes a closure for the innermost open area of said body Hi. This closure It is hinged at l5 for swinging movement, being held releasably latched by spring latches it engaging in keeper seats I! therefor. The latches IE are carried by the closure 14. Formed in opposite sides l2 of the body I0 preferably intermediate of the ends thereof are the substantially half circular sockets l9, being walled throughout, and in the end walls of each are suitably aligned openings 25, these accommodating spreadable locking bolts 22 and 23, respectively slidably coupled with each other by a stem 24 having the head 25 fitting within a bore or guideway 26 in the bolt 23. Within this bore or guideway 26 is a tensioning spring 2'! serving to spread the bolts 22 and 23 and releasably locking the same in the openings 2|. These bolts are slidably accommodated in pintle sleevelike terminals 28 formed from sections 29 and 30, respectively, of a two-part separable armembracing strap or band. The section 29 has fitted thereon a combination lock 3! for the fastening of the section 3!! thereby and separably uniting the sections 29 and 30 of the arm band so that the purse therewith can be made secure upon the arm of a person for wearing thereon.

The bolts 22 and 23 are formed with finger grips 322, these being extended through a clearance 33 provided in the wall of each socket l9 so that the said finger grips 32 are accessible only at the interior of the body it for the release of the arm band or strap when it is required that the latter be separated from the body III.

In the wearing of the purse upon the arm, when the arm band or strap embraces the same the closure It will be at the innermost side of the body in so that access to the purse can not be had from without the same except by manipulating the combination lock 3! for the separation of the sections 29 and 30 from each other and the removal of the purse from the arm whence the closure M will be free for the opening thereof and allowing access to the interior of the body It is impossible to detach the sections 29 and 30 from their fitting with the body Ill as the bolts 22 and 23 are only accessible from within the lol body l and access had on the opening of the closure M in a manner as previously stated.

The bolts 22 and 23 fastening the sections 29 and 30 to the body (0 also ftmction as pivots for these sections so that the same may swing apart when unlocked from each other to the position shown by dotted lines in Figure 2, the closure l4 also being shown by dotted lines in said figure open or swung away from the body H] of the purse for giving access to the interior thereof.

The purse is to be used in the usual manner for the carrying of valuables or other things.

The body 10 is preferably of shallow formation and is of a curvature conforming to the curvature of the forearm of a person so that it can be comfortably worn upon the arm and will not protrude to an excessive degree therefrom during the wearing as well as eliminating interference to the clothing, particularly the sleeve of an outer garment of a person,

The lock 3| serves to fasten the arm band or strap in embracing position on the arm of a wearer of the purse and also the holding of the closure [4 in closing position thus rendering the purse practically theftproof. The wearing of the purse upon the arm of a person eliminates the hand carrying of such purse and liability of misplacement, which often happens during hand carrying as well as the loss of the purse.

What is claimed is:

A purse for fitting an arm of a person, comprising a body forming a container open at the side next to the arm and having inset portions forming recesses within the ends of said body, an arm-embracing element having separable sections, a closure for the open side of said body and confronting the arm-embracing element at the open side of the body, a sealing element for separably securing the sections of the arm-embracin element together, and manually operated pin latches at the outer ends of the arm-embracing element, engageable in the walls of the recesses and accessibleonly from within said body when in latching position through the open side of the latter.
