the completion of winding the curl. I As shown in the drawing, the tine I3 is: made longer than the tine I4 and adjacent to its free end is beveled as at 30 in order to facilitate and assist the entrance of the lock of hair into the slot l2 of the spindle when the latter is shoved endwise on to said lock preparatory to winding it upon the spindle. r
At its opposite end the spindle llll I is made with a fiatish point 3| for use by the operator 'in segregating or lifting a lock of hair away from the head of the subject preparatory to sliding the slotted end of the spindle endwise'on said lock.
What I claim is: I
1. A hair curler consisting of a spindle made at its one end with a body portion and at its opposite end with a handle portion, said body 'portion being made with a pair of relatively parallel longitudinal tines which are spaced apart to provide between them a longitudinal slot that is open at one end and adapted to receive within it a lock of hair, and said tines being made upon their exteriors with longitudinal grooves each adapted to receive one of the jaws of a'bobby pin after a lock of hairhas been'wound upon said tines,'and a lock-holding bow {spring confined in position between said two tines, said bow spring comprising a pair of opposed parallel legs be 'tweenwhich said lock is forced when it is slid into position between said tines and by which said lock is held within said slot While itiis being wound upon said tines.
- 2; A hair curler'cons'isting of a spindle'made at its one end with a tubular body portion and at its opposite end with a handle portion, said body portion comprising a pair of relatively parallell longitudinal tines which are spaced apart to provide between thenia longitudinal slot that is open at one end and adapted to receive within it a lock of hair, and said tines being made upon their exteriors with longitudinal gro-voes each adaptedto receive one of the jaws of a bobby pin after alock of hair has been wound upon said tines, and a lock-holding bow spring confined in position betweensaid two tines, said how spring comprising a'pair of opposed parallel legs between which, said lock is forced when it is slid into position betweensaid tines and by which said 1001: is held withinsaid slot while it is being wound upon said tines and the outer end portions of said legs being divergentlycurved away from each other so -as to guide the ilock of hair into position between said legs.
, 3. A hair curler consisting of a spindle made at itsone end with a pair of longitudinal relativei tudinallydisposjed parallel legs whose outer-end A portions diverge and between which said lock is forced when it is'slid into positionbetween said tinessothat said lock is held within'said slot by 1y parallel tines which are spaced apart to, prosaid bow spring while it is being wound upon said tines. v c
4. A hair curler consisting of a spindle made at its one end with a pair of longitudinal relatively parallel tines which. are spaced apart to provide between them a longitudinal vslotthat is open at one end and adapted to receive within it a lock of hair, oneiof said tines being made longer than the other and having its extremity beveled upon its inner side to guide a lock of hair into said slot.
5. A hair curler constructedin accordance with g I claim 4 wherein the opposite 'end of said spindle pair of relatively parallel longitudinal tines which are spaced apart to provide between them a longitudinalslot that is open at oneendiandadapt'ed to receive withinit a lock of hair, andsai'd tines being made upon their? exteriors with longitudinal grooves each adapted-Ito receive one of the: jaws of a bobby pin after a lock of hair has been wound upon said tines-and ajlock-holding .bow spring confined in position between said two tines, said I bow spring comprising a pair ofopposedparallel legs between which said lock is forced when it is slid into position between said tines and by which said lock is heldwithin said slot while it is being wound upon said tines. y,
