An iron disc 22 is engaged over the mica of the cigar lighter. A cap 23 encases the iron disc 22 and the end portion of the electric cigar lighter. A means is provided for holding said cap in adjusted extending positions for varying the space between the disc 22 and the lighter. This means includes a heat resistant body 24, such as a Bakelite body, in the form of a tubular member securely connected with the rear edge of the cap 23. This body 25 is formed with threads 24 threadedly engaged upon the end of the body of the electric socket i3. An electric cord 25 is connected with the socket Ill.
The welder is adapted to be held in ones hand in a manner similar to the normal holding of a pencil. for example as shown in l. The cord 25 extends away from the top end of the heater and is intended to be connected with an electric circuit not shown on the drawing. Sign letters 2? are formed with adhesive material 28 on one of their sides. The adhesive material is of a type which becomes sticky with the application of heat. The letters 2'! may be attached upon a window pane or a sign board, or on any other flat surface in the following manner:
The letters and designs are placed upon a sign body and shifted and moved until they are in proper relative positions. They are then temporarily attached by touching a heated welder to one or more points of each of the letters. The completed sign may then be inspected for accuracy. If required, the letters and designs may be shifted. If satisfactory, the letters and designs are permanently attached by ironing the same down with the use of the heated welder. The fiat surface of the cap 23 is engaged against the top faces of the letters or designs during this ironing operation.
When desired, the body 24 may be turned to increase the space between the inside face of the flat wall of the cap 23 and cigar lighter. When this is done the iron disc 22 will move out of contact with the cigar lighter. The distance between these parts may be controlled by turning the body 26. In this manner the passage of heat may be regulated. Should the heater become too hot, the parts are adjusted as shown in Fig. 6 with the disc 22 moved out of contact.
