device for displaying neckties on a shelf or counter in a store, that may be folded to forma shipping container for shipping a necktie.
. Another object of the invention is to'provide a container for supporting a necktie so as to insure its delivery in an unruiiled condition.

All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of thefollovving specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several. views. and wherein:

Referring now to the drawingsin detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a back portion 5 having a longitudinal slit 6 substantially in itscenter. A V-shaped tongue 1 is stamped from the back portion ii near the slit 6.

When the device is used as a shipping container the necktie II is inserted in the necktie carrying portion 8, as shown in Figure 2, and the front portion I4 is folded over the necktie I l and necktie carrying portion 8. The flap I6 is then inserted in the slit 6 in the back portion. 'The tongue I is engaged in the slit H3 in the flap Hi to hold the same in the slit 6.
' Although I have shown and described-herein a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application of the invention thereto, and any change or changes may be made in the material and in the structure and arrangement of the parts Within the spirit of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is: 7 1. Ina combined necktie display and retaining device the combination of a back panel, a necktieretaining deck panel hingedly connected to one side of said back panel, acover panel hingedly connected to the opposite side of said. back panel and arranged. to fold over said deck panel, a retaining flap hingedly connected to the'other'side of said cover panel and adapted to hold said cover panel in a closed position, the aforesaid deck panel having spaced pairs of slits defining a pair of necktie-retaining straps, said straps being arranged transversely to the longitudinal edges of said deck panel, and freely foldable flaps hingedly connected to the ends of said back panel and arranged to fold over the extremities of a necktie carried by the deck panel and said straps being arranged to embrace and overlie the aprons of the necktie.

In a combined necktie display and retaining device the combination of, aback panel, a necktieretainingadeck panel hingedly connected to one side of said back panel, a cover panel hingedly connected to the opposite side of said back panel and arranged to fold over said deck panel, a retaining flap hingedly connected to the other side of said cover panel and adapted to hold said cover panel in a closed position, the aforesaid deck panel having a pair of slits, one being arranged near one end of the deck panel but removed from the end, the other being arranged near the other end of the deck panel but also removed from the end, said slits being adapted to have a necktie threaded therethrough, and freely foldable flaps hingedly connected to the ends of said back panel and-arranged to fold over the extremities of a necktie carried by the deck panel and said straps being arranged to embrace and overlie the aprons of the necktie.
